So the Pope is against nationalism, huh?

Does that include the nationalism of Mao Tse-tung, Sukarno, Kim Il Sung, Ho Chi Minh, Jawaharlal Nehru, the PLO, Gamal Abdel Nasser, the Algerian FLN, Fidel Castro, Chavez/Maduro, and all the various left wing nationalist movements the Left has always supported from the get-go? Those nationalisms???

What's his position on Sinn Fein, the Irish Republican Army, and Communist Irish nationalism?

Pope Francis criticises nationalism

But God created the Nations after the Tower of Babel, you ignorant Anti-Pope. So you know better than God, Bergoglio?

I doubt the Catholic Church has believed the Tower of Babel story for a century or more. It teaches that the first eleven chapters of Genesis is myth and "poetry."

I advise you to look at the commentary of almost any Catholic Bible available today (other than reprints of really old ones).

I believe they teach that it is the symbolic representation of truths - not a myth, but not necessarily a scientific or documented historical account either. More here.

Clearly it does. Why would you think that it doesn't? But not all of those are nationalist. And those which are aren't necessarily extreme nationalist.

Some of them were very anti-Catholic or anti-Christian and wouldn't get much support from the Church. Why do you lump them all together like that? Just out of hatred? Or some strange psychological compulsion?

So the Pope sent the Swiss guards back to Switzerland, threw open the gates to Vatican City and invited everyone in the world to wander in and share the Vatican’s wealth by moving in and just taking whatever they liked.

And they all lived together happily ever after in a diverse world where all wealth was shared equally and all people lived in peace and brotherhood.....

Potato, potahto. Same thing. You don't really get the "The Torah was written entirely by G-d before the universe was created" thing, do you?

More here.

Not interested. Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi and Rabbi Yaron Re'uven (two examples among many) tell us exactly what the authentic traditional interpretation is. You should be able to access their lectures on YouTube.

Clearly it does. Why would you think that it doesn't? But not all of those are nationalist. And those which are aren't necessarily extreme nationalist.

Oh come on now. The Left has long ago jettisoned class based internationalism for indienous/people of color nationalism. This includes not only the obvious "Blacks and Hispanics" but also Polynesians, Eskimos, Africans, Australian aborigines, etc. The Left is merely their bete noire (white racialism) inverted. Karl Marx is ultimately just an ethnic totem to them just as J*sus is to so many white nationalists.

Perhaps you are too young to remember when Communist dictators were invoking nationalism as an excuse for their rule? You know, Castro was the George Washington of Cuba, Patrice Lumumba, Mohammed Mossadegh, etc.? Even one of our contemporary Leftist organizations has admitted that the selling point for contemporary Leftism isn't socialism, but nationalism. You know, people of color arose mystically from their sacred mother soil, white chrstians are foreign devils, etc.?

Some of them were very anti-Catholic or anti-Christian and wouldn't get much support from the Church.

Communist China is getting lots of support from the Vatican these days (maybe you missed the news?). And Catholicism is a very important part of both Hispanic, Irish, and Quebecois nationalism (all leftist).

Why do you lump them all together like that? Just out of hatred?

Okay, exactly who do I hate this week?

Or some strange psychological compulsion?

You mean like your compulsion to respond to my posts about the Catholic Church? I mean, you already know what I believe and what I'm gonna say. What's the point, other than trying to create trouble?

I hope you understand that I am a Theonomic positivist, which means that right and wrong are right and wrong only because G-d says so. I have no romantic notions of man creeping up and up from meaningless slime to eventually discover and create some sort of profound meaning to what must be a completely meaningless universe, creating "gxds" that symbolize his ideals and then outgrowing them.

Does anyone else' fundamentalism bother you, or only mine?

You realize that the Catholic Church didn't always teach that Genesis was mythology or Jungian archtypes. They changed their teachings (all the while claiming they never ever change). This is why their leaders now feel free to change doctrines on the death penalty, homosexuality, etc. They have asked for this and they deserve it.

I don't suppose you noticed the thread claiming that "science" somehow "proves" that the "holy house of Lareto" was taken by angels from Nazareth to that city . . . a post by people who dismiss Genesis 1-11 because that in the name of that same angel-discovering "science?"

Why of all the FReepers do only I live rent free in your head? Why don't you go after some the anti-Semites on this forum?

Francis continuing destructive confusing pontificating on temporal worldly social behavior which has nothing to do with and avoids articles of faith or its profound differences with other monotheistic claims such as Islam will eventually lead to a serious fracture of The Roman Rite.

For a supposedly educated man, the Pope sure does make some absurd comments!

The Pope does not, and HAS NEVER lived in the real world!

What does he know about diversity?

Catholics should demand he resign!

You don't really get the "The Torah was written entirely by G-d before the universe was created" thing, do you?

You believe that on faith. Fine, but other people have to take empirical facts into account. And when one does so, it becomes difficult to take the Bible as a wholly accurate scientific or historical source.

Oh come on now. The Left has long ago jettisoned class based internationalism for indienous/people of color nationalism. This includes not only the obvious "Blacks and Hispanics" but also Polynesians, Eskimos, Africans, Australian aborigines, etc.

And Zionism too, at least originally, and for some time. But you don't show that Catholicism has been any great friend of North Korea or North Vietnam or Nasser or Nehru or the FLN, or that they've been great friends of Roman Catholicism. Anything but.

And Catholicism is a very important part of both Hispanic, Irish, and Quebecois nationalism (all leftist).

A century ago. People who were undoubtedly oppressed held fast to their religion even as they embraced political ideas. But today, it's hard to see Irish or Quebec nationalism as any sort of friend to Roman Catholicism. You might want to look at what is actually going on now in Ireland and Quebec. Something similar may be true of "Hispanic Nationalism." Aztlan isn't a Catholic or a Christian idea.

I don't suppose you noticed the thread claiming that "science" somehow "proves" that the "holy house of Lareto" was taken by angels from Nazareth to that city . . . a post by people who dismiss Genesis 1-11 because that in the name of that same angel-discovering "science?"

But it's not the same people. Those who believe stories like that aren't criticizing Genesis, and those who point out that Genesis may not be a literal guide to how the world was created aren't necessarily putting much faith in miracle stories.

It also looks like you are drawing too much of a line between Judaism and Catholicism or Christianity. I'm pretty sure that there are Jews who believe miraculous things happened in the past and will happen in the future without necessarily believing the world was literally created in six days.

Why of all the FReepers do only I live rent free in your head?

Don't flatter yourself. I have a few neo-Confederates and "they want to kill the White people" guys who trouble me more than you. Sometimes it does seem like you are more lost to rational argument than anybody else here, but you might be surprised at what some people keep on saying.
