Since the first A bomb was dropped in 1945, actual head-head combat between industrial powers became obsolete. With the advent of hypersonic MIRVs, the mere thought of confrontation moves to certain suicide for all parties.

So, conflicts between major powers is all about imagery, bluffing and posturing. Meanwhile, the real enemy sits (not so quietly) within, carefully plotting & waiting while citizens who thought they were protected by constitutional controls suddenly find themselves legally enslaved. More than border security, Trump's priority should be a plan of action to defeat the domestic enemy in the ongoing (cold) civil war.
