Should schools have teachers carry guns? Abstract With 20 states having teachers and staff carrying guns to varying degrees on school property, we don’t need to guess how the policy would work. Fears of teachers carrying guns in terms of accidents or other problems have not materialized. Letting teachers carry is the only effective way to overcome the strategic advantages of mass public killers. The other alternatives to preventing mass public shootings have real limits.

Some teachers may be too irresponsible to have a weapon.

We even have FBI personnel who ‘lose’ or otherwise misplace their weapons, right?

As long as students are doped up on SSRIs.

They need to do a psych eval on every teacher that wants to carry a gun, to make sure they are stable. Many teachers are not.

No. Public education should be ended.

Dumbly-stated question. Instead: should some qualified, interested and trained teachers be allowed access to a gun in school?

Answer: absolutely.

The reason for the question being stated stupidly is to cause controversy. Some will answer “never,” while others will reply “absolutely.”

How about an eval on the police officers who will respond and will almost certainly shoot a teacher or two by mistake?

Should radical lefties in general be carrying weapons while brainwashing captive kids?

Should teachers carry guns? No. That’s a foolish idea. If you doubt that, consider a school hallway during change of classes. It’s elbow-to-elbow. It would be way too easy for some nutty kid (or group of kids) to strip a teacher of his gun.

Should carefully chosen and trained teachers have access to guns? Sure. Just store those guns in safes bolted to the wall.

The question needs to be rephrased as a statement:

Schools should not interfere with qualified and vetted teachers and school staff who choose to carry firearms to protect their children.

BECAUSE WE ALREADY KNOW THE POLICE HAVE NO OBLIGATION TO PROTECT CHILDREN OR ANYONE ELSE!!!!!

Don’t expect the police to come to confront a gunman.
On the other hand, they will show up promptly if there’s a room full of dogs to put down.

Along with your reasoning, my big concern is some thug posing as a student gets the weapon away from the teacher......then, here we go...

Willing to train? Willing to carry? Willing to defend? Willing to put a bad dog down? Yes? Then why the hell not?

I am of the opinion that schools should require ALL teachers and staff to pass the same NCIS background check as they want citizens to pass in order to own a firearm.

These lemmings called teachers are part of the problem.

In a skewed world, where bus drivers are paid minimum wage yet carry a great responsibility for the safety of the children furing trsnsport...I don’t understand why a school protection force or officers assigned is not being considered. Is it cost? If it is cost in the priorities are skewed.
