The vast majority are clock-watching parasites.
What crap. Theyre all going to get back pay.
Thats an offensive generalization, Jim.
The CBP employees who are working are the frontline folks manning the ports of entry and our Border Patrol. Do you consider them to be useless?
They can leave the plan F tation any time they like.
ROTFLMAO! Of course, Dems have always supported slavery anyway.
Would that make Hoyer a slave master?
Not true. They are non-exempt, not non-essential. Big difference.
For instance, all the human resource people are furloughed, including the people who handle payroll. Thats clearly an essential function.
Scandinavian
Well, I’d except most of those doing necessary and productive work in the field. My comment is directed more to the office buildings overflowing with paper shuffling bureaucrats.
Slavery is alive and well in the USSA.
It is called “jury duty”, where enforced by threat of criminal prosecution, citizens are forced to give time out of their lives at about $1 per hour plus a bit of change for gas money.
The Govt forces even tiny businesses to pay minimum wage, but is too cheap to apply the minimum wage laws to itself.
Jury duty is a good thing...but not so good the Govt will pay jurors the minimum rate it forces everyone else to pay.
It is hard to have much sympathy for government employees who have above average salaries, much less chance of being laid off, and much better health care and pension plans than people working in the private sector.
It is even harder to have sympathy for people who will get paid for the time they are sitting at home enjoying some free time.
Everyone would love to get paid on time, but somehow in the world of business you often end up waiting to get paid, and that is just part of what the people who don't work for the government live with.
Oh, and we pay your salary too from money that we earn by our "honest day's work"*.
So I suggest you use the time off productively, and enjoy the furlough. If you didn't plan ahead and build a reserve of savings I suggest you use a charge card at the grocery store. That's what the rest of us do when we are short on cash since we didn't plan ahead, or one of our customers is late paying their bills.
*Excepting of course the part of your salary that everyone's children and grandchildren will pay.
And in the same moral space, taxation is a specie of theft as well.
So whatever portion of your pay was not borrowed was "stolen" from somebody in that moral space.
As a Fed employee, I can say we have this shut down threat potential every year as the elected reps spar over political issues.
So, like having an umbrella around in case of rain, us Govt employees with a brain, budget spending so to save some money out of each paycheck, for rainy days.
At least we, get back pay. A private company worker does do as well as we Govt workers do.
No need to feel sorry for us...we got it better than you private employment smucks. As a Fed employee, my health insurance benefits are outstanding....truly I would hate it if I got stuck with the ObamaCrapCare insurance...that almost no doctors around here will accept. High priced, low benefits.
Geez. That Hennie Stoyer is “REALLY” smart. ROTFL.
OK - lay them off with no prospect of getting back pay . and call it the “Hoyer Solution to Slavery”...
Exactly, where did all of those dues they have been paying for years to the union go? You would think that the unions would be flush with cash to assist their members ( victims ) until they get paid. Unions are nothing but cash cows for the Democrat Party. Union bosses dont care about their members. Remember when Obama vowed to destroy the coal industry but the United Mine Workers Union threw all of the support and their members dues money to Obama ?
Then they acted surprised when coal mines started closing down.

There are useless lumps in government; Ive worked with a few and they give the rest of us a bad name.
Speaking for my corner of the world, the vast majority of those of us from my agency sitting home actually do productive work and have a professional work ethic. Some need to retire and I hope this extended time off will nudge them in that direction.
I just find the government employee bashing on this forum to be quite annoying from time to time.
So... your an anarchist?
Thank you. I agree completely.
So prepare to be constantly annoyed. I don't think you grasp the gist of a FReeRepublic. Take up a skill and find real work.
