The Guardian ^ | 1/15/19 | Heather Stewart

Theresa May has sustained the heaviest parliamentary defeat of any British prime minister in the democratic era after MPs rejected her Brexit deal by a resounding majority of 230.

Brexit-supporting Conservatives joined with opposition parties and the Democratic Unionist party to trounce the government in the “meaningful vote”, which the prime minister delayed before Christmas in the vain hope of winning over waverers.

True, but I’m finding it hard to figure out what the political consequences will be in this case.

They never left the EU. That’s what this is about. This is about them negotiating leaving the EU and this is a vote on the terms and conditions of them leaving. Not certain why you are confused about that.

Seems like intelligent people can’t fathom the concept that the European Union should have no say whatsoever in Britain’s decision to leave it and retain their National sovereignty. American Elites and more thoughtful European and other nations view that as Madness. I think most normal Americans understand the true brexit immediately and wonder why it hasn’t happened yet since the people decided. I’m certain progressives and Democratic Party leaders are rooting that the government overrides the people on this one since they all deep down wish we could join the EU as well

All the Brits need now is a leader willing to MAKE GREAT BRITAIN GREAT AGAIN

That is what the REMAIN side is now hoping for.

My prediction:

The Labor Party will all for a vote of no confidence in May, resulting in a new election for Prime Minister.

The EU will "pause" Brexit until after the March deadline to await the outcome of the election.

Most likely, the UK will elect a REMAIN Prime Minister who will then call for a second referendum. The EU will happily "pause" Brexit until after the referendum.

This is no different than Democrats who keep voting until they get the outcome they want.

They should pay it and include all of the EU Invaders as part of the refund they returned

Good. The deal sold out Britain. Now Britain can leave by declaring war.

Britain will leave anyway in March. One way or the other.

It was lose lose.
No equaled staying in EU.
Yes equaled staying under the power of EU and paying billions.

Man, the UK needs a Margret Thatcher or a Sir Winston right now. We could use President Reagan to assist The Donald. Together those two would seriously kick some @$$ in Sodom on the Potomac.

I sure hope people aren’t fooled by this often-used response of the “people didn’t fully understand what they are voting for”, the implications, etc. That is pure bologna!

They sure did understand the implications, and all too well. They no longer wanted to be ruled by EU tyrants, NO MATTER WHAT! They wanted their freedom from them, NO MATTER what the cost. It was a simple up or down vote, to stay or to leave. It does not have to be complicated, it is very simple. JUST WALK AWAY.

The real fact of the matter is that most ALL current governments are packed with lackeys for their global rulers, who, (most often through blackmail or payoffs) willingly do the bidding of their masters (the names and faces of whom we would not recognize).

A 2nd referendum? What an insult. It would SURELY be a controlled, tainted vote, with results guaranteed to please their masters, not an honest vote, as was the ORIGINAL one. Then, they thought their MSM brainwashing was so complete that surely it would be a landslide Remain win. Should they now keep voting until those poor “ignorant” souls learn to vote the way their masters want them to vote? What an utter insult.

The People have clearly spoken. Just because the globals don’t like it doesn’t mean the People didn’t fully understand what they are voting for. They understand all too well.

And btw, the real “implication” is that they would be FAR BETTER off with their current local tyrants than with the EU tyrants, and the people know it. And so does President Trump, who said as much at the time.

They’ll have elections, and Theresa would do well to step aside and allow someone else to carry the Tory standard. Chamberlain did that in 1940. Is she more small-minded than Chamberlain?

Like him? No, can’t say I do. You know there is wide range between “I like that guy” and “I friggin hate that guy!”.

Some people seem to think he somehow lived to single-handily thwart Trump and elect Pelosi, which I find absurd is all. Sure wish he still had the gavel instead of that C U next Thursday.

I don’t remember Ryan lifting a finger to win any House seats. I also don’t remember him doing anything other than stabbing Trump in the back every chance he got. He’s the definition of worthless politician - and that’s saying something.

I hope he enjoys his new career cleaning out toilets somewhere.

I fail to see how the UK could be in worse shape than it already is. Has May done anything to slow down the march to Sharia law in the UK?

As bad as May has been she is Winston Churchill compared to Jeremy Corbyn. It's impossible to overstate how disastrous it would be for him to become PM.

No, it means there will be a hard Brexit, the phony Brexit is dead.

Which in the end is a MUCH better deal for the Brit's than the bullshit deal being "negotiated" by May and the EU. Saves the Brit's billions of dollars, restores their soverignty fully and opens them up to negotiate their own trade deals independent of any bullshit from the EU.

Their first order of business should be to negotiate a trade deal with the U.S.
