Columbus was a tool of Spanish colonialism and was later declared a criminal by the Spanish crown he served.
The US is rooted in the Anglo Scottish Enlightenment which has zilch to do with Columbus.
Columbus sailed for Spain and, even if he was Italian, was from Genoa, and few Italian Americans have roots in Genoa nor do most even give a damn about a tool of Spanish colonialism who never set a damn foot in the US.
William of Orange who, like Columbus, never set foot in the North America, is more important to the identity of the US and Canada then anyone who sailed for Spain or Portugal. If anything, we should celebrate the Hudson Bay Company.

I was listening to the radio the past three hours .... Red Eye Radio, a talk radio program hosted by Eric Harley and Gary McNamara. The program is syndicated nationwide by Westwood One and originates from WBAP in the Dallas-Fort Worth.
These guys were talking about OAC and her voluminous ignorance. They talked of, as you say, "the Leftists who fought tooth and nail to end this nation as we know it".
They also talked about their own lives which involved knowing how things work. Things like automobiles, airplanes, naval ships, etc. They talked about how things actually work in great detail.
All of these things AOC and her ignorant, unqualified ilk know nothing about.
It's obvious that given the climate of the LEFTIST MSM, it's going to be difficult for the good guys to be able to point out the brutal ignorance of AOC and her fellow congressional contaminants without being called mean, anti-woman, or whatever label the media will attach to criticism of their overwhelming ignorance.
How can these people be stopped?

Sadly, a vivid analogy.
Given the leftist ideology we're up against, and using history as a guide, IMO our ending will resemble the overthrow of Tsar Nicholas II or the collapse of South Africa. The only remain question for me is when can we expect their final push. Trump has given us a reprieve but when he departs, the quickening will begin. Personally I'm dangerous to our enemies in this respect; I'm healthy enough to be dangerous and too old to accept a prison sentence. If forced to I'll make my stand as a free American at a time and place to be determined.
