WASHINGTON, DC – The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted review in the first Second Amendment case in almost a decade, a case supported by the National Rifle Association (NRA), and perhaps signaling what to expect from the new membership of the Supreme Court.

New York law forbids residents from owning any handguns without a permit, and that permit allows the holder to possess guns only in their home or en route to or from one of seven shooting ranges in the city. A gun owner cannot transport a firearm outside the home for any other purpose, even if it is unloaded and locked in a case in the trunk of a car.

The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association and several of its members sued in federal court, arguing that this statute is unconstitutional.

This may be the time to take this case, with Cyborg RBG down for the count.

These are the same BS laws we have in NJ. I am PRAYING the SCOTUS rules on this properly so NJ gun owners can launch their own suit.

How do you get it inside your home?
It can’t be delivered, or mailed or picked up at another location.
If they wrote the law this way, they are fools.

I re-read it.
Now I see the back door.
You can buy it at Gun Range and then drive home.

while they are at it- take up the ‘safe act’ unconstitutional law too- also- i thought hunting with handguns was allowed in NY? Perhaps the law against it is just for the City of NY?

Don’t you love how exercising our God Given Rights is at the whim of nine Black Robed Tyrants?

A Ruling striking down this travesty would be 9-0 in a sane world, but we aren’t living in a sane world.

If they go by the Heller precedent, NYC’s law will likely be struck as unconstitutional.

People are effectively made scofflaws if they want to defend themselves because in practice, the city is a no-issue jurisdiction.

Only people who can get the few permits that are issue are politically connected friends of the police chief and the mayor.

Its a corrupt system that tramples on the the RKBA despite what the Constitution says.

Good thing the SCOTUS took it up,

But , it took 4 votes to take case. You believe with Ginsburg voting , the 2A loses 5 -4 ?
