The un-hooded klan .
Prager’s “Exodus: God, Slavery and Freedom; The Rational Bible” is excellent. Ethical monotheism. Moving into Tetzaveh, or the later of that part of Torah.
Serious read, for everyone, believer and non-believer alike.
Sadly, the young men are equally as discouraged as young women about the institution of marriage.... :( but creating favorable economic circumstances for marriages and families would go a LONG way towards increasing the positivity and optimism!
It’s too bad that it is even a matter of controversy for me to say, “I agree with you!”
My husband is hooked on tv, watching many programs in which I have no interest. If I come into the living room, he usually says, “I’ll change it, if you want me to. What do you want to watch? He gets lonesome for me, I guess, but he still wants to be in front of the t.v.. But I’m not complaining; I waste an inordinate amount of time on the computer, writing out comments like this one. He has his foibles and I have mine. And we both need to get up and DO SOMETHING!
Sometimes I feel the same way! I am sorry that that is how our culture treats the normal, healthy, necessary, human instinct to sacrifice oneself for the sake of nurturing and supporting others.
If I felt that the women in Congress were the types who would support real men, women and children on the matters that count, it wouldn’t be so depressing. But most of them are ugly harridans with agendas involving violence towards all that is good and beautiful about men, women, children, and families. It’s disgraceful.
You got a good one!!
“it makes me wonder about what is happening to the culture and to the children while the mothers work.”
You don’t need to wonder. Just look at the monster, disrespectful, drug addicted, lazy children (and their children) whose mothers bought into the idea of having to work outside the home. Motherhood has to be the hardest job in the world! And once you realize that your adult kids are well-adjusted members of society, it has to be the most rewarding. (I’m not a mother, so can’t say for sure, but that’s what I observe.)
Bert, if wives are not mending or washing, their time is being eaten by planning menus, cooking meals, homechooling the children (if fortunate enough to do so), and wearing the role of caregiver to a family member.
These days women are expected to Make bread as well as Bake it.
Certainly agree with the fact that a woman working outside the home is much more equipped to carry on when and if she should lose her husband. She has the stronger foundation to do so.
Barefoot and pregnant is no way
to go through life, fellow.
My wife wanted to work until our son was born, then re-enter the work force when he started school. Financially, it would make no difference to us. I applauded her desire to not sit on the couch all day watching TV.
Three of my kids are married. The wives in each marriage work part time or not at all. It can be done. We are not wealthy people although my boys did get stem degrees and make bank now.
YEs I am not with the president on this issue nor in the long leaves for new parents nor on his relative ambivalence to the homo agenda .
I love him and think hes great for the country. But I think hes off in these areas.
I find introducing facts/statistics help inform the discussion. The breakdown of the family is more the cause and welfare the symptom.
It is worth noting that we "subsidize" abortion with the biggest users being blacks and Hispanics. If welfare encourages blacks to have more children, then why are they having per capita more abortions? The black population of this country would be double what it is today without abortion.
58% of all women having abortions are in their 20s.
Black non-Hispanic women have the highest abortion ratio. Black womens abortion ratio has reached 444 abortions per 1,000 live births, while non-Hispanic white womens abortion ratio is 124 abortions per 1,000 live births.
37% of women having abortions are white, 37% are black, 19% are Hispanic, and 7% other races.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, Women who obtain abortions are predominantly poor or low-income, in their 20s and unmarried; black women and Hispanic women continue to be disproportionately represented among abortion patients.
I strongly disagree. The breakdown of the family began coincident with communist Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty. You quote a lot of current statistics, as thought they tell you something about how we got where we are. They don't.
Yeah, my wife used to like when I would stay home and she would go “shopping”.
An early start, nice lunch somewhere, going to stores I never heard of, but not spending a lot of money. Just getting out of the house and gone.
Although she did have a good church network of friends and we had dinner at the church many times so the dads stayed around keeping the kids busy while the moms went off somewhere and talked.
I am 75 years old. I remember LBJs War on Poverty quite well. I also remember Moynihans 1965 report, The Negro Family: The Case for National Action, that provided the disclosure that the Negro out of wedlock birth rate was a horrifying 25%!!!
The welfare state has made things far worse along with other factors such as an education system that fails to inculcate moral values, a decline of religion coupled with a rise in atheism, and the loss of shame in a society that tolerates immorality. This is not just an American problem. It exists throughout the Western world, which is in decline.
Yeah ... and now it's around 75%. That "war on poverty" sure worked wonders, didn't it?
It exists throughout the Western world, which is in decline.
And just coincidentally, the entire Western world has adopted the socialist welfare state.
Huh.
Go figure.
I completely agree.
