I just tried to donate via visa card and your response was that the card was rejected. The cc company says the card is valid and no record of card rejection exists.
Here’s my paltry sum. It’s ridiculous how broke I am. But this is worth it.
FR is a vital source of information, perspective, and community for the tens of thousands who participate. There have been times during the past 20+ years when FR has been my only meaningful contact with the world. It took most of those years, however, for me to accept personal responsibility for FR.
For the past several years I have pledged and paid $100. a month. This is not nearly enough to cover the benefits I have received. It does, however, represent a substantial portion of my retirement income. My donation is a sacrifice I willingly and happily make to allow Jim to keep this forum on line.
I strongly encourage you, dear lurker, to do the same. Make a monthly donation to keep FR alive and moving forward. There is no more important time than this. Our freedom hangs in the balance.

I’ve been paying for nearly 20 years and just got a notice from Paypal that FR rejected/cancelled my monthy donation.

I’m sorry, we sometimes receive an error code back from the cc processing service when they decline a transaction, but this time we did not. It just says ‘error’ on these two transactions. Others are going through fine.
Some of the things it checks is valid cc number, exp date matches, street address and zip code match, telephone number included.
Could also be a temporary failure to make connection with the cc service or a timeout error.

I received a similar message from PayPal regarding your monthly:
“Automatic payments from [name redacted] have failed 1 times. As a result, we will not try to process these payments again.”
I’ve received several of these messages from PayPal recently where they’ve cancelled monthlies after only 1 failure. This must be a change in their policy. They usually try again in 5 days and cancel only after several failed attempts.
