Immigration hawks slammed the border security compromise President Trump signed into law Friday for containing last-minute provisions that they argued give "amnesty" to many – but a Department of Homeland Security official insisted to Fox News that’s a misunderstanding of the bill.

The President has the power to veto bills passed by Congress.

If they GOP wants to override his veto and pass what is essentially an open-borders bill...that’s fine. At least the charade will finally be over. The GOP will prove they support open borders. And they will be slaughtered by the voters.

We need a president that will not only stand up to Democrats...but also stand up to Republicans. the fact Trump was terrified to stand up to Paul Ryan showed early on he’s not cut out for this.

Who is telling you this crap ? Votes to pass don't equate to votes to override..but it will never even come to that. 30-40 R senators won't sign a death warrant..nor will 150 R congressman....if they chose to go against a very popular president among R voters.

If these poison pills have been eliminated, or have work-arounds this a YYYYUUUUUUGGGGE win.

For example; local mayors having veto power actually means local officials should be consulted. Cool.

Proof that sponsors are verified to be sponsors renders most of that null and void.

I’ve read the 5 insane provisions one. I see every pundit panicking but will wait for the bill to officially show as signed before I panic.

The H.J.Res.31 is still showing as presented to Potus, but no proof of signing. That is unusual. Thomas.gov is usually right on top of things.

That would only be applicable to the $1.6 billion, not funds taken from other budget sources. Correct?

...and another thing: Dems crazies won’t retain the house in 18 months. And won’t be feeling so headstrong come October when it’s budget time.

If true, yep. The DS is deep, indeed. I wish POTUS would drop the Declass. That would expose the treachery.

Senator Cornyn voted for it. Senator Cruz voted against it. I hope somebody decent runs against Cornholio in the primary.

The funding bill is only good until September, if I recall correctly.

That is the good news.

The bad news is the stuff that will be in the _next_ budget bill. :-(

This complaint is completely valid.

Most “unaccompanied” minors are crossing the border to join family members who are illegally living in the USA.

In other words, this is exactly like “Catch and Release” for entire families that cross the border together, except, in this case, some family members are already in the USA.

Re: You’d think the morons at the Orwellian DHS would be immigration hawks, but they’re all open border Hillary voters.

Completely true.

Secretary of DHS Kirstjen Nielsen publicly testified that she supported DACA Amnesty - and Trump still nominated her.

Nielsen's chief of staff at DHS is a former lobbyist for H-1B work visas!

Apparently, Trump has no problem with that, either.

8 U.S.C. §1182(f)

“Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

"So a VAST MAJORITY of Republicans screwed their constituency."

Think about how bad Paul Ryan really was. This is all fall-out due to Ryan making pro-illegal immigration and pro-abortion back-room deals.
May he burn in hell. If not before....
