I would think they are more of a tripwire than anything else.
You probably wont see that, but an India-Pakistani confrontation could highlight their differing interests. Russia has a good relationship with India, who is a historic customer and counterweight to China.
Pakistan is China’s partner, and they both have border issues with India.
So was it a gen 2 cat fight or 4 vs 2? Assume the latter.
Why we ever got in bed with Pakistan so deep is beyond me, war on terror or not. This isn’t going to end well at all unless they deescalate soon.
North Korea is one thing, but we have China holding (loosely) his leash. Pakistan and India, no one matters to them besides each other.
Harboring Osama Bin Laden like they did shows exactly which side they will be on if we are involved with them.
India is currently upgrading their airforce with the purchase of a bunch of F16 variants dubbed the F21 from Lockheed Martin. I think they are buying 114 of them.
The Fishbed will fly forever. It's cheap, and the Soviets sold swarms of them. I'm just surprised India still uses this crap. Pakistan was a US weapons customer from way back, which evens the odds a little bit, but I suspect the Indians are holding two hands behind their back and could smash the Pakis conventionally in a few days.

I think Pakistan would go nuclear before India.
If they do, India’s retaliation would be immediate, devastating and spectacular.................

We may have been content to know where Bin Laden was and who he was talking to and what he was saying to them.
Pakistan has few options in a conflict with India. Not only does Delhi have conventional superiority, it also has a much better logistics base. It’s been reported that Islamabad has only enough “beans and bullets” for a week of full-scale conflict at the conventional level. After that, Pakistan has the choice of losing a conventional war, or escalating into nuclear conflict and losing (but killing millions of Indian civilians in the process, along with millions more of its own citizens).
Did I mention that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal is completely controlled by the military? The generals could decide its time to go nuclear and the political leadership might (or might not) have any advance notice.
Meanwhile, civilians on both sides are cheering on reports of losses/casualties among their enemy. It’s like 1914 all over again—with nukes.
We just finished a contract with the Indian AF for some ‘stuff’..............................
It’s not India/Pakistan I worry about. It’s a nuclear war that spreads out of the thirds world into civilization.
Those nuclear clouds don’t stay put...........................
Curry stained fingers are hovering over the red button. A shit storm will be released should nukes be let loose. There may even be a pre-emptive nuclear strike by China, Russia or the USA.
The Muslims will nuke first. That’s just the way they are.
