One way to dramatically increase the number of cases of a particular disease is to expand the definition of that disease!
That’s a tad loopy... There’s this disease called ‘smallpox’... And guess what? It isn’t a disease anymore and is non-existent. The reason why? It’s a thing called vaccination and if you do enough of them you can actually wipe out a disease when it runs out of host to infect, and that’s what happened to smallpox.
Smallpox formerly killed millions of humans every year... Now it doesn’t even exist due to forced vaccination programs.

And ALL of those deaths were preventable if vaccinated. Influenza does kill significant parts of the population and we military types are required to received vaccination as are many other professions. The major problem with vaccination against influenza is that the Type A mutates and there are over 29 subtypes. Would you like to receive 29 shots?

It used to be that over time a bacterial infection would take you out. Now with antibiotics, better hygiene, food etc. you live much longer. Diseases that you would never have lived long enough to see are taking you out.
