NRO ^ | March 5 2019 | Katherine Timpf

Senator Rand Paul has announced that, despite supporting improvements in border security, he will vote against President Trump’s emergency declaration on the grounds that it’s an abuse of executive power — and he’s absolutely right.

“Every single Republican I know decried President Obama’s use of executive power to legislate,” Paul wrote in an opinion piece for Fox News. “We were right then.”

No, he is NOT right. He should support Trump. Separately, if he wants to end emergency declarations, then change the law. Don’t show Never Trumper feelings to dump on Trump.

Guys like Rand are backstabbing sobs. They know this is big issue for POTUS and see this as their weasel opportunity to weaken him.

He is required by Article IV Section Four to protect the states against invasion.

Congress refused to act.

There is a crisis going on, our people being killed, raped, the victim of pedophilia, and other violent and costly crime.

Our nation’s populace demographics are being altered without our permission.

Trump swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Part of defending the Constitution is abiding by it’s tenets.

If Trump failed to act with regard to the invasion, he would be in violation of his oath of office.

He is on very strong Constitutional grounds here.

No, he is NOT correct, but thanks, NRO for your biased, anti border protection opinion.

Rand needs to get with his colleagues and actually do something about it then. Congress is an embarrassment.

In addition to appropriately addressing long-ignored border emergency, I suspect that PDJT wanted some masks to fall off with his emergency declaration.

The NEA provides a congressional termination of a president till declaration of emergency. Congress must check and balance or a dictatorship is possible. The USSC has not declared the NEA of 1976 to be unconstitutional. Do you really want to dip that toe in the water? In the end Trump can veto the congressional joint resolution.

I could see them blocking Trump’s emergency declaration and then impeaching him for not protecting our borders. Insanity reigns supreme.

“Every single Republican I know decried President Obama’s use of executive power to legislate,” Paul wrote in an opinion piece for Fox News. “We were right then.”

You were completely futile then, Rand. Congress did nothing to stop Obama's rule by executive order. And now, as our border is flooded with illegals, you want to finally crack down on executive orders by a Republican president trying to deal with this emergency? An emergency that the Republicans in Congress refused to deal with for two years, when they had the majority?

No wonder the National Review is supporting Rand Paul on this - they're the champions of futile, all talk and no action conservatism.

“But the only way to be an honest officeholder is to stand up for the same principles no matter who is in power,” he continued.

Yeah we stand on principles while the Democrats change their principals as often as they change their underwear. No wonder they are able to kill this country. I believe in principles too, but I also believe that when your opponent lacks principles it's time to fight fire with fire.

‘Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.’

Man is impelled to invent theories to account for what happens in the world.

Unfortunately, he is not quite intelligent enough, in most cases, to find correct explanations.

So that when he acts on his theories, he behaves very often like a lunatic.
