"ICE officers who endorsed President Trump in 2016 now say he has failed to follow through on his get-tough promises, saying catch-and-release of immigrants living illegally in the U.S. is not only still happening, but has gone into “overdrive.”
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers say they’re being roped into such mundane tasks as opening the doors on vans to release immigrants already caught by Border Patrol agents. That’s dragging the officers from their usual duties of nabbing fugitives, or scouring local prisons and jails for immigrant criminals who lived illegally in the U.S. ready to be deported.
The shell game is all the more “ridiculous,” the officers said, because Border Patrol agents could fill out paperwork and open the doors themselves, but the agency’s leaders don’t want to be part of catch-and-release.
“Hundreds of man hours are wasted each day at a time of crisis on the border,” the leaders of the National ICE Council, the union that represents ICE officers, said in a letter sent directly to Mr. Trump on Monday.
The letter was sent just hours before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee voted to approve Mr. Trump’s pick, Ronald D. Vitiello, to be the new director of ICE."

How long has it been since he declared. There should be a flurry of activity since for two years he has been profiling samples at the border.
When he was elected in 2016, the next day he should have asked Ryan and turtle when funding would be forthcoming. He had been yelling wall for 16 months. If the funding was not in place on January 20, 2017, he should have declared an emergency the next day. After all an emergency is by definition urgent. Now he is 2 years in and still doddling.
You see, he hasn’t done all he could. And if he doesn’t build more than the 55 miles the congress has funded, he will suffer defeat next year.
why should a judge agree that the wall is an emergency when he hasn’t done anything about the wall but look at samples and complain about congress for two years.

I view a source like this cynically, written by a Leftist whose literary works and views are wholly in line with the likes of United Religions Initiative, Four Worlds International Institute, Center for Human Emergence, Humanity’s Team, Coffee Party USA, Bridge Alliance, Friends Committee on National Legislation, Amnesty International, and the Liberty Coalition, while at the same time fully accepting the view of a single quoted source which is the PUBLIC SECTOR UNION, which is Leftist to the core, as are ALL public sector unions.

The main point of this article is not the wall construction (the word "wall" is not even mentioned or obliquely referred to) it is to give voice to a view the Leftists wish to promulgate, that supporters of Trump are supposedly turning against him, that he is all talk and no action.

our President hasn’t stopped catch and release because the courts are repeatedly hogtying him with each case having to go to the Supremes to be shot down. Congress is at war with BP and ICE, and refuse to act in even a small measure to immediately deal with 60,000 illegals a month swarming the border. We do not have the facilities to house them all, and building more facilities to enable excuses for more immigration is not a solution. The president demands deportation power. A judge just gave illegals denied asylum access to federal appeals courts. So we’re still fighting for it. That’s why.
Now, if Trump were king, it’d be a different story, but we kicked royalty out of the US in 1776 and again in 1812.
Trump has the power right now and he is not using it. Let me give you just one fact. Homeland security employs 229,000.Get 100,000 of them off their asses and haul them down to work on the border to stop this invasion. We have no duty to let these people set one foot in our sovereign country. I am sick of this.
I just did a search on the guy (Stephen Dinan) and looked at some reviews of his last two books. It is revealing...not so much the reviews themselves, but just search on the organizations that the reviewers are affiliated with...it is a Murderer's Row of far Leftism that is antithetical to any conservative values. One world government, open borders, etc.

You are most welcome. I pay for Free Republic because many people here do understand that all sources are not equal, and we tend to view nearly all of them skeptically, or at least with caution (most of the time...:)
Contrast that with viewers of CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, (as well as the readers of The Washington Post, LA Times, and New York Times) who accept wholesale and with zero skepticism what those outlets spout.

I went to the ICE web site yesterday.
I asked them in an e-mail to post the construction schedule and locations. No response yet.
