Complete failure at Oroville Dam

The $1.1 billion spent to repair Oroville Dam is failing as water is seeping through the rebuilt spillway threatens new mass evacuations over the risk of the dam collapsing.

According to national dam expert Scott Cahill of Watershed Services of Ohio, Oroville Dam is on the same failure track as in 2017, with visible water seepage trickling from the foot of the dam and dozens of points along the dam's principal spillway. Cahill warns that warming temperatures magnified by precipitation is a growing threat to the dam.

American Thinker reported on March 1 that the Sierra snow pack was at a record 113 inches, but another 44 inches fell in the next 10 days. With temperatures spiking this week to 75 degrees in the valleys and 41 degrees in the high mountains, dam inflows are running twice the outflows, and the water levels rose from 800 to 839 feet.

Back then you could go to the drive-in burger stand and eat a cheeseburger without a liberal blaming you for destroying the Earth.

Ya filled up your big-block Mustang or Camaro or the station wagon with a 390 with premium gas. Men who wore dresses were shunned as weirdos. Sure the Fed had house loans at 20% or so - ouch.

Shoot, back then, Communism, Marxism and Socialism were bad things, except to a few radicals on campus.

Looks like water flowing down the righthand side of the spillway.

Wait for the rotating pic to focus on the spillway itself. Definitely water running down the side. Much more than even an hour and a half ago.

Looks like a lot of ‘repairs’ may get washed away come spring melt.

Let’s hope not.

The water flow is much more pronounced even than an hour ago. so the spillway IS being used already. When you look at the front view I originally thought it was a shadow on the right hand side. Nope, water flow:

NOT there an hour and a half ago.

I DO have to wonder why they’re deliberately channeling it to the right hand side (viewed from across the river) of the spillway.

Exactly, I call B.S. I watched the reconstruction intently for 2 years and I have a construction background. I’ll wait for Juan Brown to weigh in.

Fill me in on what they’re still doing. From the live links I posted there’s a LOT of VERY busy activity still going on up there. As my grandmother would say they’re ‘working like they’re killing a snake’.

They are finishing the backfilling of the spillway walls, tying in the ogee weir to the new emergency spillway structure, breaking down the portable concrete plants, removing the temporary work roads, and restoring and replanting the landscape (slated to take 2 years). I’m sure there’s more but that’s the view from 40,000 ft.

the spillway this time cannot fail in the same way, it is now concrete down to bare rock, with a heavily reinforced surface layer. there is no soil tosuction erode from under it.

Ah. Gotcha. I did notice an obvious temporary road at the foot of the spillway.

"See post 46 of this thread and talk to the writer there. LOL! ”

Maybe it's because I've been on the internet for a looong time or maybe because I'm getting older but attention grabbing headline set off my BS detector. And usually it's correct. "Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence" and this article provides nothing solid. I did go to the site and not there confirmed the headline. Lotta "woulda, coulda shoulda" and from a gut inspecting from afar.

Maybe it was from Juan Brown, but I've learned that dams leak, not just this one but all dams. Engineers know this and they monitor these leaks. Most are seasonal. Like the "green blob' on Oroville dam. It appears every year when most of the surrounding vegetation has turned brown. And every year the alarmist shout "See, See, the dam is going to burst"

The Oroville spillway is no different. It most likely groundwater or runoff from the recent rains that's perulating from the ground and soon it will stop. The dam's engineers no doubt are monitoring this situation.

Now if tomorrow Juan Brown makes a video and says "Run for the Hills", I'd pack my bags, pronto!

I think we all know why this is a problem.

It was the Government Shutdown(TM).

Oh, and the Russians(TM).

That should about cover it.

What is interesting is who they go to to blame.

Any of these libtards call for Jerry Browns head on a platter? IE are any libtards actually blaming the correct person responsible for the failing oroville dam? Who got funds and didnt use them to repair the dam? Who didnt make fixing it a priority?

No, they all just toss it on a Goldstein they want to rail against, in this time and case, Trump.
