The Pentagon has a list of $6.8 billion worth of construction projects it could choose to take money from in order to build President Trumps border wall, according to a list belatedly provided to Congress on Monday. But officials have yet to even decide how much Defense Department money theyll use toward the wall, and so they havent decided which projects on the target list would actually be affected.

Projects are spread across the U.S. and even across the globe, with bases from Bulgaria to Guantanamo Bay on the list."
Before using the emergency declaration to tap unobligated Military Construction funds, the President has the following otherwise available for border wall building: - $1.375 billion approved by Congress.
- $601 million from a Treasury Department forfeiture fund
- $2.5 billion in Pentagon drug interdiction money
...and then up to $3.6 billion more in military construction money.
Sounds like a good plan to me.
Excellent!!! I can’t think of many better spending than to secure our boarders. screw the anti-American Democrats and RINOs
Excellent!
Or from the Lobster / office furniture purchases. Absolutely ludicrous expenditures the last couple months of the physical year just to burn the cash that was budgeted but not spent on legitimate defense items. Trump needs to have people in the know making him aware of this BS.
What is the budget, like 4 TRILLION dollars?!??!!
5 billion is like a nickel the way our govt spends.
Congress has truly become a joke for the President to have to go through all this to get a few bucks.
And when we’re talking 4 trillion, 5 billion IS a few bucks!
Anything for the “advancement of muslim......” is instant cut.
How about money to set some firecrackers off at the home of the billionaire oligarchs, the Koch Brothers?
And save some to toss into Paul Ryan’s and BEATO’s front yards, too!
“Excellent!!! I cant think of many better spending than to secure our boarders. screw the anti-American Democrats and RINOs”
Pull an Obama and cut the money from Blue state military projects. “Heck California, you hate the military so much, guess you don’t need those new transportation projects.”
Trump wanted 5.7. Guess he’s got it but let’s cut the crap. will it work?
There already is an article in our local rag about potential cuts at Portsmith Navel Shipyard in NH.
It’s a 2020 swing state, so NH should not be affected.
Walls work: 4 minute video from the Border Patrol’s El Centro Sector.
This video highlights the first wall project of the Trump Administration, in Calexico, CA.
Since then, much larger projects have gone in to San Diego and El Paso. Among the many new projects about to break ground, Calexico, CA will be getting 11 more miles of 30 foot bollards.
It is not ‘Trump’s wall’.
It is a border wall for the protection of the sovereign territory of the United States.
$6 billion is the rounding error in the Pentagon’s budget.
There are going to be lots of stories about potential cuts, but none are definite yet.
The list identifies about twice as many candidates as would be needed - so no firm decisions have been made yet.
No FY19 projects are included on the candidate list, and none will be included that are for troop housing.
“...The Pentagon has a list of $6.8 billion worth of construction projects it could choose to take money from in order to build President Trumps border wall,...”
How is it Trumps wall?
There are already 1100 miles of wall, which he nothing to do with
Tomorrow, Big Media will report HUGE cuts to the military, in alleged violation of his promises.
The Supreme Court has already ruled that Government Sponsored Health Insurance is a “Gift” and can be Ended on a Whim.
Abolish All Health Insurance for Federal Employee’s and let them sign up for the Democrat Affordable Care Act Insurance..
“There are already 1100 miles of wall”
It is more like 650 miles (about half pedestrian, half vehicle barrier).
The Trump Administration plan is to build 1,100 miles of barrier (some new, some replacing existing barrier).
So far, the Trump Administration has completed 38 miles, and has over 80 more under construction or on contract. The FY19 money is targeted for about 300 more miles, and the FY20 money for the final 700 (costs are much lower in flat desert, than in the Rio Grande Valley floodplain).
