I still think if the Republicans don’t rein in illegal aliens voting, voter harvesting and states giving their electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote the Dems may win House, Senate and Presidency.

“....states giving their electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote ….”

Article 1 Section 10

No state without th consent of Congress .. enter into any agreement or compact with another state.....

That doesn’t even address the voter disenfranchisement issue of having you vote canceled out by the actions of other voters outside your state. Example your state chose candidate A, Candidate B wins the popular vote, your states electoral votes now got to B.

It will get shot down when the time comes.

Someone help me here, what do Presidential candidates have to do with Senate rules? They're not that stupid. Were I McConnell I'd agree with them and change the rule. Takes a couple minutes and a vote. And for Rand Paul and a few others, there will be Dem votes.

It's often forgotten, there was a filibuster rule in the House before the Senate. Stupid rule, the House got rid of it. Senate adopted one. It was valuable in the runup to the Civil War and far beyond. In our, at least my, lifetime most valuable in fighting civil rights legislation. Valuable to the dems, led by folks like Byrd and Gore. Don't want no stinken civil rights legislation. Boy, was that forgotten in a hurry. Senator McConnell, let the rule begone. Forget about the Byrds, Kennedys and McCains entranced by the nonsensical history of an ancient rule. Not a law. Or Constitutional provision. And yes, I've a political motication in noting used most effectively in opresing minorities in the US. Particularly a certain racial minority who should sue the DNC for reparations.

The cloture rule has a parallel in Robert's Rules of Order. Its purpose is to allow debate until a supermajority is ready to vote.

Using cloture to implement a minority veto is abuse of the process, and illustrates that the deliberative body is dysfunctional.

I’m all for the turtle triggering the nuclear option. There is zero doubt the left will when they regain control, and they will go far beyond this!

Coming soon: The death of the filibuster

Senate Republicans are set to trigger the ‘nuclear option’ once again, the latest sign that the 60-vote threshold is going out of style.
