New Jersey law allows terminally ill to get life-ending meds

Gov. Phil Murphy on Friday signed legislation making New Jersey the seventh state to enact a law permitting terminally ill patients to end their lives.

Murphy, a Democrat, signed the Medical Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act in private. His office would not answer why the signing was not public. The law goes into effect in August.

He earlier indicated he would support the bill, but in a personal statement, Murphy — a lifelong Catholic — revealed that he wrestled with whether to sign the legislation. The state’s Catholic Conference testified against the measure.

“I have concluded that, while my faith may lead me to a particular decision for myself, as a public official I cannot deny this alternative to those who may reach a different conclusion,” Murphy wrote. “I believe this choice is a personal one and, therefore, signing this legislation is the decision that best respects the freedom and humanity of all New Jersey residents.” …

They will label this as a late term abortion.

Then, it will be condoned, approved and administered at all ages!

Well, like I always say, if you can kill a baby with no conscience, you can kill anything, for any reason. Our time on this planet is short.

If conception doesn’t create a citizen,
if quickening doesn’t create a citizen,
if being born doesn’t create a citizen,
when does it become a crime to kill you?

Ny governor blomo the first used the same argument to support abortion. to paraphrase” As a catholic I am opposed but it’s what the voters want”.

I’m sure they are killing them without the patients or family’s knowledge.

Every time the left pushes euthanasia, the push back should be against one of their favorite protected groups: serious violent felons in prison.

That is, propose that since the left wants suicide for good people, why not make it an option for hardened criminals?

Guaranteed the left would freak out at the idea.

Each life term, death row, or very long term prisoner would be given the offer to swallow an extra strength Fentanyl pill.

It would definitely make the left back off for while.

Noop! Wouldn’t want someone with a fatal disease to become an addict.
Who knows where that would lead?

“I believe this choice is a personal one and, therefore, signing this legislation is the decision that best respects the freedom and humanity of all New Jersey residents.” …

Fine, use the same reasoning for allowing gun ownership then.

Must be the libertarian side of me.

I'd be happy to check out on my own to eliminate my burden on my family / society if I'm cognizant and capable of understanding the consequences, and know there is just a one way ticket for me.

I'll say my goodbye's, affairs are in order, and that's that.

The alternative is a very messy ending with a bullet.

I'd prefer the managed approach. MY MANAGED APPROACH

None of the prophets or saints in the Bible ever committed suicide.

Doesn’t mean one has to eschew the saints’ examples.
