The UN is a dangerous geopolitical tool. Imagine a magic sword with a mind of its own and occasional homicidal tendencies towards its user. While the US can usually bribe up an alliance to do something, it comes with strings and sometimes enough rope to hang us. Then, occasionally, you get somebody like Obama who sees the UN as a way to force Americans to accept domestic policy that he could never get through congress. (Like gun control.) For that reason alone I think it is time to get out of the UN. It has become a tool more useful to America’s enemies than it is to America.
To obtain peace there must be war, there must be lots of deaths
The European disdain for war deaths is the reason for no peace with Israel. The Euro disdain for war death is the reason there is still a war in Afghanistan.
The European concept must be ignored and deaths via war resumed on scale large enough to produce peace.
The irony is that the move will of course make the European Union even less Democratic and in doing so it relies on the Lisbon treaty which itself was a work around of rejection of the European Union by the people.
The combined economic power of France and Germany, especially Germany, as an implicit economic threat to the rest of the EU and it is the source of this drive toward an ever more undemocratic supranational agency.
