Unusually specific intelligence reports about fresh Iranian threats to American forces in the Middle East triggered a request by the U.S. military command in the Middle East for additional assistance as a deterrent against possible aggression, U.S. officials said Monday.
That threat prompted the Trump administration to deploy the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier and its strike group, along with several bombers, as extra force in the region, the officials said.
U.S. officials say the intelligence, which emerged late last week, indicated that Iran planned to target U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria, to orchestrate attacks in the Bab el-Mandeb strait near Yemen through local proxies and possibly carry out attacks in the Persian Gulf with armed drones.
It remained unclear whether the Iran preparations were contingency plans in case hostilities broke out between Tehran and Washington or operations that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were already determined to pursue. But they raised concerns at the U.S. Central Command and at the highest levels of the U.S. government, officials said.
The escalation in tensions came as European diplomats said Monday that Iran appeared poised to breach portions of the 2015 international nuclear agreement that restricted Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for relief from economic sanctions. Such a move would mark Iran’s strongest reaction yet to a series of U.S. measures aimed at intensifying pressure on Tehran.

A spokesman for Iran’s Supreme National Security Council dismissed the U.S. military deployment as psychological warfare, without commenting on the Iranian planning. Iranian President President Hassan Rouhani, in a phone call with Qatar’s emir, called for moderation in international relations, state news agency IRNA reported. He described the Gaza flare-up as “worrisome.”

With what we know of the CIA and FBI I an suspicious of the whole lot of them. Iran will not bomb Israel because Israel could Nuke em good. More like a Proxy attack though some “Third Party” Like in Yemen or Gulf. This was just a scare tactic in Iran’s Part. More to keep opposition off balance than anything else.
