The House Judiciary Committees lead witness in its Mueller Report hearings this week will be someone who has nothing to do with Donald Trump, nothing to do with Russia, nothing to do with Muellers investigation, and who throughout his career could be trusted on virtually nothing.
Some have compared Democrats squiring in Richard Nixons disgraced White House counsel and Watergate conspirator John Dean, in their first step on a road they hope will lead to Trumps impeachment, to bringing in Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Its really more like Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, the stars who played the Washington Post reporters in the movie of their book All the Presidents Men.
The stunt is a cinematic opportunity to let the establishment media do what theyve been pining to do for over two years now: juxtapose video of Deans blockbuster testimony to the Watergate committee with the various goings on today and hope the public conflates Nixon and the current White House occupant.
Back in 1973, Americans were stunned hearing Dean tell of a cancer growing on the presidency, a major turning point in a probe that would ultimately force the resignation of the 37th President. The fallout gave Democrats 49 new seats and a massive majority of over two thirds in the House of Representatives, and 60 seats, thanks to four gains, in the U.S. Senate in the 1974 midterms. Today, some Democrats think Dean can make the first splash in a similar tidal wave.

The amazing part is he is still living
They are obliged and committed to do this for their voters. Not doing so would be a dereliction of their duty in the eyes of their constituents...
Agree. They had people vote for them on the premise of remove Trump from office.
To just admit without kabuki theater that they can’t will lose them voters. Not that those voters will switch parties. At best they may not vote for anyone which is a W for us.
Heard rumor many, many years ago that Mo was the reason for the Watergate break-in. The democrats had op-ed work on her that was damaging. Think the rumor had some truth in it.
Agree. Dem playbook for a long time. Mess with the family to cause someone to take on their own party.
Turn this into a huge reminder of what the Hildabeast ACTUALLY DID and what Trump is supposed to have INTENDED to do...
Great scenario.... Also hit them with a variation of the Comey defense...
Although these things look this way we can’t prove his intent as it was never carried out...... and how can you find someone guilty on something that didn’t happen in the first place .... Collusion....
Ford couldn't do anything - the Dem Congress cut off all money. Doomed Viet Nam in particular and Southeast Asia in general to twenty years of civil war and genocide.
LOL! I like how you think ;-)
Why would the democrats, Nadler specifically, call a known liar, a criminal, who knows nothing about what is going on with Trump to testify? It looks to me as a ploy to appease the democrat voters, which looks to me like a failure of a move when it is over. We will see!
How long before Nadler figures out a way to connect Julius and Ethel Rosenberg to this? He’ll dig them up and bring them in for props.
Maybe John has finally found Phil Bailley's little black book with all the lovely high-priced ladies of D.C..
Second question ........"Was it really James McCord who put the tape on the door jamb at the Watergate? Or was it a young Donald Trump working on the side for a younger Roger Stone?"
Mr. Dean ..... just use your imagination.
Make the Democrats feel good for a few minutes this afternoon.
I like your suggestions. At first I thought that all
but one or two GOP committee members should boycott
the John Dean show. But there is merit in the idea
that the Republican members should ask Dean specific
questions about this alleged collusion and obstruction
where his best and only answer would be “I don’t know”.
The point is that the Dean appearance is all show. He
knows less about this collusion hoax than the average,
garden variety FReeper. The Democrats want a pre-
impeachment show and I would love to see the GOP turn
it into a full blown parody. Asking Dean questions about
Hillary’s dubious behavior would add to the absurdity
of the event. NO questions that would provide any
level of credibility to Dean’s appearance should be
asked. But like you indicate, getting the Republicans
to incorporate such a strategy is something that just
won’t happen.
I remember that, too.
I wanted to see this guy brought out of mothballs, but missed it - was ‘Mo’ sitting behind him again, and did she look like Gollum, as well?
Ask him why Hillary was removed from the Watergate case.
Deep Throat was sentenced to prison for criminal overreach in spying er “investigatinging” Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground.
Guilty as sin yet free as a bird, that’s Obama’s pal Bill Ayers’ own remark about his bombings
When they cheat and still lose they come to understand just how much the public doesn’t want them
