I read the entire article and all I got out of it was “He’s not one of “us” so he must be an idiot”. Doesn’t matter that Trump had to deal with government scammers and riffraff to build his buildings and run his companies.
The relationship is everything. It's true in finding (and keeping) a spouse and it's absolutely true in business.
Watching Trump put on the Greatest Show on Earth is even more instructive than reading Art of the Deal. In my one-person business, Trump's daily tweets and examples are invaluable to me -- aside from the thrill of seeing all the MAGA wins.
A lot of it is careful planning -- the kind of meticulous planning you do when you're financing and building a 50-story skyscraper. The staff writers at the White House are constantly collecting Trump's thoughts, plus they know what issues are bound to come up and they prepare for them.
A tweet that's a real zinger may have been conceived and vetted two weeks ago. This is why the power and timing of his tweets is often perfect. Then, since Trump is so good thinking on his feet, you have him last week stoking the fires of anger between Pelosi and AOC.
Trump and his team know perfectly well what tough questions would be thrown at Trump by reporters. So they prepare traps for make the reporters look like fools. Another factor is that Trump moves quickly and across multiple fronts, so Fake News can't keep up. They focus on Kellyanne's shoes on the Oval Office couch while Trump is getting something moving elsewhere. Later on, we see pictures of Obama putting his shoes on the historic Resolute desk in the Oval Office.
In Osaka, when Putin and Trump are in a press conference, a reporter asked the insulting question, "Have you told Putin to not interfere in U.S. elections?"
And instantly Trump turns to Putin and jokingly tells him to "not interfere in our elections" -- to which Putin laughed.
Putin and Trump have a relationship -- enough of a bond of trust that the attacks from the partisan press cannot shake. And isn't trust exactly what we need between the two nuclear superpowers?

I think you nailed it. Trump confuses the elite because Trump puts America and it’s people first. That is a concept that will elude them until the day they die. They are incapable of understanding the America First concept.
