I agree but don’t think he will ever get charged or convicted of anything...BUT he was ‘imprisoning’ the gentleman etc.
I know it is EASY to sit here- after the situation - and tell everyone how THEY should have acted, but my ‘scenario’ of such an event would be if when I first spotted him entering the store and he was in a NON THREATENING MANNER (though several believe that HE was/is threatening by showing up) and kept his hands in view I may lag back and make sure he has no ‘friends’ coming in behind him...as far as ‘me’, he had no danger of getting shot UNTIL he would have shown an aggressive (more aggressive than ‘legally’ walking around with a rifle) demeanor.
I would even be reluctant to draw my weapon as the police (who did arrive rather swiftly) are looking for a gunman -any gunman - and things can so south swiftly if one is standing there pointing out where the ‘idiot’ is and holding a gun.
Fools like this - right or wrong - just make it ‘tougher’ on the rest of us because I can see stores really start posting ‘no gun signs’ so as to cover themselves.
Which eventually comes back to bite a legal CCW carrier BUT, like I say, it is called concealed for a reason.
As to the store managers actions, he probably did the correct thing if for no other reason than had the guy been up to ‘no good’ the manager would be in deep kimchi for not ‘doing anything’.
I carry and have carried on a daily basis since I stopped consuming alcohol (about 30 years) and have never had to draw. I am so used to carrying that I don’t even ‘realize’ I have it but like the man says..
TWO things in life that you will probably never need but should always have available are a Gun and a Parachute.
