No, he has it right. Occurred under the Andrew Johnson administration. Steward, Sec of State, was the outfront man. In addition to purchasing Alaska he expressed interest in purchasing Greenland and Iceland.

you say that there are “56,000 odd people” in Greenland. I’m sure that not all of them are “odd,” but rather normal.

I believe that Thule, above the arctic circle has a civilian population of around 500 and about 150 Air Force personnel. The main population lives in the southern quarter of the island.
