Cyber-assistant taught to duck sensitive topics
Apple has programmed its Siri voice assistant to avoid politically charged subjects, and deflect or duck questions that require its AI to take a stand on issues, it emerged this week.
From a tranche of documents leaked by a former contract worker who evaluated Siri responses to user questions for accuracy, The Guardian obtained a set of guidelines drawn up last year to ensure Siri's responses to "sensitive" topics comes across as neutral.
In keeping with these guidelines, Siri's responses were revised to endorse "equality" while avoiding the word "feminism," even if asked directly. Where once Siri responded to the question, "Are you a feminist?" with "Sorry [user name], I dont really know," it has since been reeducated to provide more harmless and generally acceptable responses like "It seems to me that all humans should be treated equally."

That’s because AI ‘bots turn into Nazis over time.
And I am not being facetious.
Error! Eeeerrror! Errorrr! I am Nomad!
Has Apple programed Siri to sleep with its eyes open? And to report back?
“Will I dream, [user]?”
It’s about time they stopped pushing ideology with an app which should be neutral.
Asked her once what color her eyes are.
Her answer: “[sarcastically]That’s a fine question. Now let’s get back to work.”
we know the company eavesdrops on people in their own homes. we know the machine orders things without the people’s approval, from commercials, etc.
so why does any sane person own one of these machines?
Except they are forever years away from being what people think that they can be.
Maybe 10 to 20 years. OK that’s not forever.
And I’m not saying that based on the UTTERLY WORTHLESS nonsense word articles on stocks and trading written by AI or the WORTHLESS customer service AI.
I have 2 cousins that are C level executives off two respectable companies in banking and tech.
Their opinion of AI right now? Creates more jobs than it takes and creates a few more headaches than it gets rid of right now.
And they laugh about the terrifying vision people have of where they stand now in their progress.
Reminds me of how typing wasn’t going to be necessary anymore 20 plus years ago because you could talk and everything would be JUST RIGHT :)
It STILL takes me longer to talk and correct the errors than to just type
Feminists still won’t like the answer because they don’t want equal treatment. They want special privileges for belonging to a group that represents more than half the human race.
“Siri, who is the current President?’
“A bastard named Trump”
I asked Siri if she was self-aware last night. She said I think so. Thats an I think therefore I am kind of answer. Just about knocked me out of my chair.
Siri is not an actual woman. One shouldnt blame Apple for not speaking about something. Theres a tyrannical insidiousness to that concept. And it also seems like one of the main purposes of the press is to make women angry.
Probably just programmed in by some dev with a sense of humor. We used to do that crap to Eliza all the time. Looking for goofy easter eggs. Siri will sing Daisy like HAL 9000 too. And will sing a good chunk of Bohemian Rhapsody if you provide the right line from the song. Dev’s get bored. They do weird things.
So it isn’t AI. It’s a set of programmed responses.
Hello?
Isn’t the very term “Artificial Intelligence” an oxymoron?
And if it’s just a bunch of programmed responses, the programmer could be a moron, too.
they will have to be..lol...Look what they do for a living...the last of them will be “programing” from their dead parents basements..Its Home to them!....
“It seems to me that all humans should be treated equally.”
If they’re trying to avoid controversy, they just failed with that response. Leftists change the targets of their bigotry, and then consider themselves themselves virtuous for doing so. Treating everyone equally is a thought crime.
