Dear friend,
This week, the Trump Administration announced plans to take $3.6 billion away from military construction projects so the President can build portions of his border wall. That includes taking away more than $77 million from projects in Virginia.
President Trump's decision to pull funding from critical national security projects is deeply concerning. Our military construction funding should be used for safety improvements that protect our troops and bolster our national security, not for a vanity project.
The Department of Defense informed me that the Administration plans to take funding away from the following military construction projects in Virginia:
The Cyber Operations Facility at Joint Base Langley-Eustis will lose $10,000,000 that was supposed to go towards construction of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) that's needed for the Cyber Protection Team to receive intel and perform the training required for the national security mission of the facility. The Navy Ships Maintenance Facility in Portsmouth will lose $26,120,000 that was supposed to go towards necessary safety upgrades, including fire protections to keep workers safe. A project to replace a hazardous materials warehouse in Norfolk will lose $18,500,000 that was supposed to go towards ensuring the safe storage of dangerous materials, including hazardous chemicals, to meet life and fire safety code requirements. A project to replace a hazardous materials warehouse in Portsmouth will lose $22,500,000 that was supposed to go towards ensuring safe storage of dangerous materials, including hazardous chemicals, to meet life and fire safety code requirements.
The well-being of American troops is the core responsibility of every commander in the military, yet the Commander-in-Chief is shirking that duty so he can advance his own political agenda.
I've been outspoken against President Trump's plan to take money from military construction projects since it was announced earlier this year, and I'll keep urging my colleagues in the Senate to join me in standing up against it.
Sincerely,
TimKaine
If we aren’t defending the border, the federal government is serving no purpose.
There’s no other reason for us to have a national government but for national defense.
The email is absurd and leftists are clueless. They want to destroy America and erasing our border is easiest way.
Securing the border is a military operation.
They will not be able to leave once we build the wall.
Buwahahahaha.
Did Tim Kane come out of the closet yet?
And what was with his gay campaign worker dying the week he was named Hillary’s VP pick?
Another ‘loose end’ taken care of?
OMG he might take money from cia fbi and dea. They have done their jobs so well.
It is a damn good thing that we have a president who takes our national security and our sovereignty seriously.
The liberals have show their open borders socialist asses all over the place on this.
Our country, our borders, our laws and all of them, immigration laws as well as the laws that pertain to classified documents, damn well need to be enforced.
A border wall also bolsters our national security, it too is not a vanity project. If we stopped making taxpayers pay 182 billion, the price thus far this year for illegal aliens, then he wouldn’t have to take the money away from the other projects. Of course Democrats could provide President Trump the money for the border wall and the other projects could continue as well. You hypocritical SOB.
....and another insane lib communist heard from.
Hey, Little Timmy, take your communist BS somewhere else.
Gee, this sounds like he's talking about Obama!
Porkulas losing their pork. So they squeal.
Let’s see. The Kenyan raided Medicare to pay for Obamacare and BJ raided Social Security for something else.
I think you erred. Isn’t the author of the e-mail correctly referred to as ‘COMRADE Senator Tim Kaine’?
</sarc>
Exactly. This is congress’ fault.
Closeted homosexual and failed VP candidate all in one ugly package....
and securing the border is priority one.
“...bolster our national security, not for a vanity project.”
Senator Tim Kaine doesn’t ‘get it’... If we don’t have borders and any group or groups can invade our country at will - then his little list doesn’t matter.
.
NOTHING is more important to the safety of the citizens than border security.
Without border security, there is NO national security.
