PENTAGON – A member of U.S. Special Forces serving alongside the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria told Fox News on Wednesday they were witnessing Turkish atrocities on the frontlines.

“I am ashamed for the first time in my career,” said the distraught soldier, who has been involved in the training of indigenous forces on multiple continents. The hardened service member is among the 1,000 or so U.S. troops who remain in Syria.

“Turkey is not doing what it agreed to. It’s horrible,” the military source on the ground said. “We met every single security agreement. The Kurds met every single agreement [with the Turks]. There was no threat to the Turks -- none -- from this side of the border."

I wont argue with you as your argument is personal apparently. I will say I spent a hell of a lot more time overseas in my active duty days than I would have preferred, but it came with the job. I didn't whine about it, and I hope your son handled it like a man better than you did. If he chose to get out I have no problem with that. My respects to him for his service.

Apparently you don't hold the same standard for this "cry-baby" complainer, if there indeed really is one. How come you don't advise him to suck it up because it's part of the job, instead of bad-mouthing his commander-in-chief?

And you just want to keep spending our blood and treasure.

How does killing hundreds of thousands in the Middle East begin to solve the proble. Your answer is like bad chemo; it makes you sick but cures nothing.

Your answer is Neo-con pablum. Conservatives are suppose to conserve our treasure for the future.

You are walking the country into bankruptcy and constant, endless wars. And you have a war woody. You probably blouse your boots and walk around with your guns like you are ready to take on the terrorists.

I didn’t hear any bad mouthing of the CiC. What I heard was shame for letting partners down due to decisions beyond his control. Solders are not robots. They have a conscious and you should be glad they do.

If you read any of my posts, you would see your attack on me is pure spit.

I don't advocate any of the things you are now attacking me for. You are just directing anger at me and I wont try to argue with someone who acts like the left projecting their emotion on me rather than making calm analysis.

Your calm analysis is nothing more than the status quo. You think we should stay there to suppress groups that are not attacking us—and haven’t attacked us in years.

I want to leave. I want to destroy the enemy and leave.

Youre projecting again. I want to leave, I just don’t want to leave a mess that we have to come back to in a few years. The back and forth is the worse than being consistent.

Pollak: Fox News’ Unethical Report on Soldier’s Opinion from Syria

Fox News national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin posted several tweets Wednesday night reporting that an unnamed U.S. special forces soldier in Syria opposed President Donald Trump’s decision this week to withdraw.

It is against military law for soldiers in uniform to disagree publicly with the commander-in-chief. And, to the extent that the soldier’s quotes describe U.S. positions or troop morale, it is a serious breach of national security.

Civilian control of the military requires that elected leaders make policy decisions that the armed forces carry out — with the sole exception of orders that violate international humanitarian law.

Military leaders can offer advice to the president but cannot disobey or criticize his decisions while they are serving in the armed forces. Front-line aoldiers make the greatest and most admirable sacrifices, but they swear to defend the Constitution, not their opinions.

Guess my point is that we don’t go back. At least not on the ground.

We can’t stay there, or anywhere, especially the mid-east FOREVER. protecting the Kurds will never end. It’ll be a full time job FOREVER. Like Afghanistan.

Out Now.

Even leaving Trump out of the equation, Congress is full of traitors.

But I also respect the opinions of the warriors who have been there or are leading the troops.

**************

Their dedication and convictions are admirable. Our military is honored and respected, no doubt about that.

But our military is spread all over the planet with bases in approximately 80 countries and countless other locations that are less conspicuous. Additionally our expansive operations and deployments span the entire globe. We are literally everywhere, even in very remote places, so its not as if we are retracting into our shell.

As a veteran and someone who worked for DoD I recognize that, despite the cost, this widespread distribution does provide us with a certain readiness posture that is advantageous. I also appreciate the many threats we face.

That said I think that many Americans (as evidenced by Trump’s support and recent polls) indicate a sense of frustration with our history of costly, protracted foreign entanglements. In our democratic form of government the peoples’ voice should be heeded and honored.

I suppose you could say its the president’s job to thread the needle here by finding a compromise position. However, rightly or wrongly he has made his decision which he believes to be in the long term interest of our country. As I said to another person on this board, the voters of this country in general, and those who disagree with his strategic military decisions, will have an opportunity in 12 months time to approve of him or not. We will have a choice. That’s the way our system works, at least for the time being.

Thank you for speaking for those who want to do their job with others whom they have come to know and trust only to be told to stand down.
