McConnell: If Trump impeachment trial were held today, 'it would not lead to a removal'
Fox News ^ | November 5,2019 | Andrew O'Reilly

Posted on 11/05/2019 2:59:29 PM PST by Hojczyk

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said on Tuesday that it is unlikely that President Trump would be convicted and removed from office is he were to face a Senate impeachment trial today.

It takes two-thirds of the Senate to convict a president and remove him from office. That means at least 20 Republicans would have to vote to convict Trump if he is impeached by the Democrat-controlled House.

McConnell also questioned whether the six Democratic senators currently running for president in 2020 would want to take time off from campaigning to attend what could be a lengthy trial in the Senate.

“The question is how long the Senate wants to take,” he said. “How long do the presidential candidates want to be here on the floor of the Senate instead of Iowa and New Hampshire?”

As for him hating Trump and wanting him gone — I’ve never seen anything in his public statements that would give me that impression. And as I am not able to read minds, I shall refrain from drawing such a radical conclusion.

POTUS has been assaulted by a Deep State Coup for 3 years. McConnell and the GOP Senate blocked his MAGA DNI pick. That makes them co-conspirators. Sorry.

The Supreme Court is the interpreter of the Constitution. This “impeachement” farce in the House of Representatives violates the Constitution.

First, the president can set foreign policy however he wants. Hunter Biden admitted he was on that board and getting paid off. That’s corruption. Trump holding back money for corruption is no different than Trump holding back money to investigate a murder. No one would argue if it were because of a murder. Corruption is illegal, too.

Second, No money was deleted, more weapons were delivered than ever.

There is no crime

We have one more YEAR to listen to the Death Rattle of the Democrats and it’s annoying as H3LL, already! Another YEAR of their constant yammering and PDJT WILL have a 50 state blow-out!

I hope so.

Lordy, that would be wonderful.

I could die happy, come what may after that, to see that alone. Just once.

If there is ever another Democrat president, we need to be ready to vote for impeachment the afternoon of Inauguration Day.

I repeat. The SC does not involve itself in matters of the Senate and House. Each chamber has domain and can run it as each chamber decides. This has been tested in court multiple times and the SC always demurs.

The SC knows if the voters don't like how each chamber conducts its affairs, they can be voted out.

The SC is correct.

I don’t think Mitch is going anywhere unless he allows Trump’s removal. He will get the blame if Trump is removed and nothing will save him.

I think impeachment is ABSOLUTELY going to happen.

And with Mitch’s tepid response, he’s saying “any evidence a little stronger...maybe”

They all stink

Well, if you are right, the country is done should they remove Trump. Prepare for oppression. May your chains rest lightly on your shoulders.

My guess is wont be a “Lengthy Trial. There will be a quick motion to dismiss that will be voted on and only a simple majority is needed for the motion to carry. That makes the trial last at most a few hours.
