Wildfire has little to do with temperature except for higher temperatures drying out vegetation faster. The most recent fires around California were during a cold airmass. Record lows in fact. The reason for the fires was simple: wind.
Desalination takes a lot of energy and Australia already has an energy shortage because their authorities have implemented an extreme anti-energy ideology. In summer they have widespread blackouts on hot days because there isn’t enough electricity to go around when the peasants turn on their little mini-split room air conditioners. This is despite power costing as much as 0.6 aussie dollars per kWh ($0.40) to discourage use. Like any good third-world regime the authorities switch off industrial plants first to cover it up, and also to make it impossible to run a business.
Australia is also the world’s biggest natural gas exporter but their domestic customers face shortages and prices 3x higher than export customers.
More moisture, more vegetation.
Late spring in Australia. Let me guess: climate change!
There is a relationship: warming dries out vegetation. But there's a much more important relationship: global warming reduces wind, both average wind and maximum wind. Wind is already reduced in California (and many other land locations).
The seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere.
My limited experience in Australia (I’ve only seen the southeastern corner) suggests that the coastal areas are the only places where there’s any vegetation. Go more then 50-100 miles from the water and you have sand.
Australia has been getting dryer and hotter as has it has drifted north.
Which has had a tremendous evolutionary effect on the native fauna.
If the Aussie greenies really want to get serious about lowering CO2 emissions, they should halt sales of coal and iron ore to the Chicoms.
But if they dealt with Israel that would mean that so-called “progressives” would have to (horror of horrors) approach t3h j0000z for help, and we all know what the average progressive thinks about t3h j0000z these days. With IAW/BDS setting public policy in left-wing jurisdictions these days, they’d rather dry out and burn up.
...white phosphorous tears of burning Palestinian babies and all of that...
/yes, Sarc.
Godspeed. I have a 50 plus year RAF mate in NSW.
By this point, I heard from Fred via Freep Mail that she and hubby had to evacuate to a sports field because the wind had changed and the brush fire was headed towards them. She left for the sports stadium or field after securing valuables from any fire that might come.
Since that e-mail I have heard nothing from Fred, so we must understand that there is tremendous hardship for some people in Australia. Its actually horrible. Little of that is captured in the MSM faux news.
If one of us hears from Fred , let us all know.
All we might be able to do is raise money to help and that might become necessary.
It’s almost midnight here, we are still following the warnings from the fire fighters and the government services that issue information. The wind has died down and the temperature during the night promises to be lower. We are back in the house, ready to leave when instructed. The car is still packed. It will be an uncertain night but we have been assured if there’s any change for the worse, we will be notified by the local police.
Some 14thousand hectares of natural forest and pine plantations have been destroyed so far - and it’s far from over.
But we are ok for now. Our emergency services and volunteer fire fighters are hero’s - all of them.
Many thanks for your message and concern.

Check out # 37.
Where in Australia is Mr. & Mrs. Fred?
