South Africas state power company intensified rolling blackouts to a record, signaling a deepening crisis at the debt-ridden utility and raising the risk of a second recession in as many years.
Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. said on Monday it will move to Stage 6 load-shedding from 6 p.m. local time, meaning it will cut 6,000 megawatts from the national grid, after a technical problem at the giant new Medupi Power Station curbed supply. Thats the biggest cut yet. The utility downgraded the status to Stage 4 as of 10 p.m.
The utility is curbing power for a fifth straight day as it struggles with breakdowns at plants and heavy rains that have soaked coal used as fuel. The blackouts have a debilitating effect on the economy by curtailing mining and factory output and causing crippling traffic delays.

“I dont like socialist countries that are also heavily racist while claiming not to be.”
Back when TUTU won the prize 1980s I told my wife - There goes South Africa, back to the jungle..taking lil bit longer than I thought tho....
In what way?
Have all the blacks who love in California taken over the vast majority of government posts, judgeships, and the police forces and taken the land from white farmers?
That's because the G@dD@mned media liars deliberately manipulate the public to support Democrat policies. If they told the truth, people would know better than to embrace socialism. It's only because the medial liars cover it up that some people even think socialism is a reasonable idea.
I would not go. Very dangerous place. Read up on it.
We all know what’s going on but it’s considered ‘racist’ to actually articulate it.
So you caused the blackouts because you don't like them?
Africa wins again.
it is debt-ridden because it is forced by the government and ANC to sell below-cost power to politically important districts and municipalities, who then don't bother to pay the utility for the power anyway.
And throw in the fact that they threw out most of the whites, who knew all about how to run/fix things, replacing them with blacks ( almost all of whom were ANC members or family members/sort of a Hunter Biden kind of thing ) decades ago, and this problem is very understandable.
SPOT ON !
If you do go...lots of luck; it's now a wretched place and only gets worse as time goes by.
The vast majority of South Africa is dry, arid scrub land. Its why South Africa was nearly uninhabited when the first Europeans arrived - very little grows naturally.
The White South African farmers use many generations of experience, combined with technology, machinery, irrigation, and electricity to move water and nutrients to make the land bloom with basic crops. For that reason alone, farms must be large to justify the investment and maintenance of such capital. And then the racist, destructive socialists see large farms and cry "redistribution." And they will scream louder as things get worse.
collapse is coming to South Africa.
Recession risk? What about night looting?
Or night attacks on White owned farms.
“I ain’t gonna play Sun City.”
Its OK. Wakanda is building a new, wireless power grid for them as we speak...
If only Chief Buthelezi, had been the one, instead of Mandela.
Going for pleasure.I've been there several times,it'll be my wife's first. I know it's dangerous but I've been obsessed with African wildlife for decades. We've paid for the tickets,non-refundable.
What might happen is that I'll encourage her not to go (for safety/comfort reasons) but I would. If she protests that arrangement (distinctly possible) I'll probably go with her wishes whatever they might be.
instead of Mandela.-— AH HA! He of necklace fame...Think it was Minnies thing tho....
Don’t make the 6PM news !!!!!
