Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer announced Monday he would push to quadruple the budget for the Nonprofit Security Grants Program (NSPG) from $90 million to $360m. a year.

The program allows houses of worship and other nonprofits to apply for grants of up to $100,000 for each institution. The money can be used for security measures such as fencing, cameras, stronger doors and hiring of security personnel.

I watched one of these grants come through the Oregon legislature for a Portland Synagogue. Haven't heard of these grants being advertised for churches.

What strings are attached?

No concealed carry, for example?

This looks a lot like federal control of religious institutions.

Last week, Congress authorized an increase of the funding for the program by 50%, from $60m. in 2019 to $90m. in 2020.

In addition, Schumer said he would promote a significant increase of federal funds that are used to prosecute hate crimes, from $5m. to $100m.

more money................................

This might be the last big haul. POTUS TRUMP will be elected next year and less opportunity for the swamp to continue their laundry service. Lesson learned: taxpayer monies have been laundered in order to end up in the pockets of elite politicians. IIRC these same cons have been ongoing in the southern states: the houses of Faith receive monies to care for and shelter illegals. How much the churches receive as compared to the monies elites accumulate, who knows? Chuckie is attempting to make hay while the sun still shines.

This church is a perfect example of what can be done if you’re not hamstrung by gun laws.

Why?

What organization could NOT think they need to spend more on “security”?

1. Schumer is a “crisis of the moment” ambulance chaser, always thinking the solution to EVERY issue is to throw more federal dollars around; his way of pandering for votes.

2. Public safety is a local problem, and if local institutions need assistance their local government unit does not have resources for, the first, and last place to ask is at the county or state government level, not Washington D.C.

This is in response to armed citizens taking out the mass-murdering wannabe trash.

Can’t have that.

Let me guess Chuck Schumer and the other liberals will have their liberal churches line up to get this free money to promote their liberal Christian agenda in the disguise of security and bull crap like that, and use the money to persecute real Christians that don’t believe in promoting gay and lesbian marriages and gay and lesbians in the pulpit, and other liberal agendas. I’m kind of strongly against the government giving out handouts to Christian organizations and organizations that call themselves Christian that aren’t, most of these Christian Churches and phony Christian Churches misuse the money almost all the time. Let these Christian organization stand on their own credibility.

Once a piggy starts sucking on a teat it’ll scream if the teat is pulled away.

That’s why all Democrat “solutions” seem to involve invitations to be a proverbial sucking pig.

They grow government by spending first, not by presenting arguments about what sort of nation we should have or what sort of social weal should be government’s lookout.

Grants: “Money for patronage”.

It “can be” used for security for churches synagogues and mosques- or not. It’s money.

I foresee most of this going to protect muzzlime institutions and/or being absorbed into programs like the DNC bank account.

So the dual-citizenship-with-Israel guy tries to get the US to pay for security for US mosques, right?
