I’ve bought quite a few great American made items through Amazon.

Easily solved > don’t buy from 3rd party sellers.

I ordered a box of a thousand finish nails, yesterday, for my Bostitch finish nailer. Gotta say...Amazon did a great job collecting old nails at the dump and gluing'em back together! Got'em today BTW.
Seriously, I've only had a couple of problems that resulted in me returning defective/questionable items.

I bought pickups for a Stratocaster used for about $25 off the new price.
They were not $200 fender pickups, they were $12 Chinese pickups that somebody had returned.
I had to tell Amazon that I was not the one ripping them off.
They did believe me.
Another one was a Mopar made in USA IAC valve for a throttle body on a Jeep.
I open the box and its stamped Made in China right on it.
Back it went!
So then, I paid $20 more for one from a local dealer.
The box said made in USA but....the part had made in Mexico stamped right on it.
Maybe they got it from Amazon?
Well, it worked fine so....kept it.

You also have to watch out for the Chinese stuff on Amazon and on eBay. They have flooded eBay so bad, I rarely go there any more. I've been zapped a few times by that with Amazon - but it's not all that often, thankful to say. Substandard stuff goes back & it's so easy to return. Takes less time to return something thru Amazon than it does say, at Walmart or Target.

I’ve heard some stories on Antiques Roadshow where people have found amazing treasures in dumpsters (as well as thrift stores, garage sales, and so forth). Not everything that someone else has discarded is trash!
