Buchanan felt that Britain and Germany should have been allies, and that Hitler would have left the British Empire alone had Britain Allied with Germany, in the fight against Bolshevism.

A lot of Brits felt that way in the late 30s.

And indeed that was Hitler’s original desire. Basically the deal would be, Britain gives Germany free reign on the continent in exchange for Germany having no claims on the British Empire. And certainly he knew there was no love for the Bolsheviks in Britain, so he figured it would be a “slam dunk”.

When Britain refused, Hitler became angry with the Brits, and especially Churchill, for rejecting his “deal”. But even then, Hitler really didn’t have the heart to invade Britain, just to have her neutralized enough to free him up to attack Russia.

I read it all the way through and was disappointed they didn’t include them. The title would lead one to believe they would appear in the article.

Except Britain never liked having a single power dominate the continent particularly if that power controlled channel ports. It would intervene with money, material, influence, trade/navy occasionally men to restore the balance. This was true at least from the time of Marlborough to WWII, probably before.

Yes, and that was Hitler’s miscalculation. I would imagine Hitler might have even offered Britain to split France with them, knowing the traditional animosity between the Brits and the French. But again, Britain wouldn’t bite.

"The title would lead one to believe they would appear in the article."

The press usually does that to bait you. I clicked on it thinking there would be photos, but then read through and found they were going to be published in a book.

Buchanan’s WWII “history” would leave an idiot in worse shape than before they read it.

No one should have been “allies” with Nazi Germany. Hitler was as bad or worse than Bolsheviks and had no moral high ground. He was as brutal and totalitarian as they were.

Hitler “became angry” with a lot of people very quickly (especially when they didn’t give him the territories he wanted when he wanted them).

Hitler’s “Bolshevik” fear-mongering was his ruse to wage war by creating numerous false pretexts (Nazi’s dressed up as Poles “attacking” Germans) so he could invade, annex, and expand his totalitarian Reich.

Hitler was about what all totalitarians are about-power.

Of course we know this now. But Churchill was ostracized by his own party in 1934, for daring to suggest that Hitler was that evil.

That is the reason why I don’t understand Buchanan’s historical revisionism. We now KNOW beyond the shadow of doubt what kind of man he was. The crimes of Hitler and the Nazi’s should silence all doubt.

I believe that Hitler could have taken Britain had he not roared into Russia too soon. And of course by that time America was in it to win it and the addition of the enormous industrial output and manpower doomed Germany even faster.

And, there definitely was a side of Nixon which resented “liberal NY Jews”and saw them as a political enemy. Until they began to hate Israel, American liberal Jews were a very powerful political block.

And yet Nixon saved Israel's bacon in 1973, Golda Meir even said so.

Yep, Hitler pretty much said what he was going to do in “Mein Kampf”.
