Sen. Rand Paul's (R-Ky.) attempt to ask about the whistleblower whose report helped spark the impeachment inquiry is running into a roadblock in the form of Chief Justice John Roberts.
A source confirmed that Roberts has indicated he would not read a question from Paul regarding the whistleblower at the center of the House impeachment inquiry.
The question from Paul is expected to name the individual. Because Roberts is responsible for reading the questions that would put him in the position of publicly outing the person on the Senate floor.
Paul indicated to reporters after a closed-door Republican dinner that he was not backing from trying to ask his question.
“It’s still an ongoing process; it may happen tomorrow,” the libertarian-leaning senator told reporters as he headed back to the Senate chamber.
The Senate is in its first of two days for senators to question both House managers and President Trump's legal team.
Senators have been submitting their questions to Republican leadership, who were responsible for weeding out duplicate questions.

There aren't any clear Senate Impeachment Questions Rules. My point was that whatever Roberts is enforcing is not a LAW.
There are vague senate rules on decorum, deliberate revelation of protected information. I'd look to the entire body of senate rules, Riddick's and elsewhere to see exactly what is written on the subject.
They were really concerned about keeping Linda Tripp’s name secret.

I’m not going to read much into Robert’s refusal. Sounds like he headed off being manipulated into becoming a distraction by saying the jerks name for the record. Rand can easily frame his question without the name. Did any HPSCI members, staffers, associates, friends, affiliates, lawyers, or Mary McCord speak to the purported whistleblower directly or indirectly about impeachment or Trump’s calls or making a whistleblower complaint? If so, what were the full details of each occasion?
Why has the transcript of ICIG Atkinson’s testimony been withheld from the Senate? Ask one of the “defense Team that has seen the transcript what is in it.

It’s all so silly. So why is it that those who are out to destroy the President get more rights and privileges than the President himself who I thought had very clear Executive Branch protections? At this point you don't still think Roberts understands the law? Well let's stipulate that he understands it and just ask if anything thinks he actually cares about it? He twists and distorts it however he wishes to get it to mean what he wants it to mean to reach the objective he desires. So that means he can reject a Senator's question because .... reasons.

The whole point was rand wanted the whistleblower named!
My theory is the whistleblower is a composite character Democrats created to disseminate their leaks.
While I believe Eric Ciaramella is A whistleblower he's just their a figurehead.
Since he only has his own limited alleged first-hand knowledge he doesn't know all the things every other leaker have given Democrats. Democrats can't risk him testifying because he would fall apart during questioning.
