Cutsie as you thought you were there the U.S. federal government subsidizes electric cars with a $7,500 consumer tax break for the first 200,000 vehicles an automaker sells.

We adults call that a subsidy.

Don’t forget the EPA purposely unplugging a closed mine to contaminate a river so it could become a superfund moneysink.

The Tesla’s are fantastic vehicles. The nerds that work for me love them. A couple were out in the parking lot driving the things around using their phones. With nobody in the vehicles.

They haul booty too.

Cutsie? Tesla has sold almost 170k model 3 sedans, and the 2 of the big 3 had to get out the business.

But let’s continue down your path of uninformed ranting, shall we?

Tesla has sold 365k cars total. Now figure in 170k model 3’s, and then the fact that the max subsidy is no longer available to Tesla, nah, they are very strong.

The subsidy doesn’t even matter anymore. Even more dishonest on your part other than attempting to defend an article that counts brake and rubber dust as emissions, is that it is a tax credit, not a subsidy. There is a difference...

We adults in the room call that selling something people want to buy. Something the big 3 has lost the ability to do outside of trucks. And when Tesla gets the towing range up in trucks, they will not even have that.

"regenerative braking is an obvious & critical development to capture otherwise wasted energy"

Regenerative braking has been around for decades. The problem is that brakes must absorb thousands of horsepower in a high speed hard stop, and the electric motors (acting as generators) aren't able to absorb that much power. Even worse, the batteries cannot be charged that fast. The issue is not the need to develop regenerative braking, the problem is what to do with the braking energy.

Consumers generally buy with emotion.
Fleets buy on spreadsheets.
Tell me again why fleets in Europe with $7 dollar a gallon diesel aren’t all electric?

European car industry protectionism. That and European electrics are amateur hour compared to Tesla. The oh so luxurious and fast Porsches and VeeDubs go about 200 miles, down hill, with a tail wind. Mercedes also is a has never been.

Tesla is mopping the floor with them, so they are buying Euro gassers just to keep the home industries alive in the hopes they can beat Tesla. One day. Maybe. But don’t get your hopes up. Tesla battery knowledge is now nearly unassailable.

Tesla packs are easily lasting beyond 300,000 miles, have the best average performance, and Tesla knows how to make them for the best price.

The only way to match or beat Tesla is a new chemistry only a new manufacturer and owner of said tech can understand.

I will give you this...
the rockers on those Model 3s are gonna rust through long before the battery needs to be swapped out.
