What kind of fuel do they propose to use to generate the electricity for their electric cars? Except for the small amount of power generated by wind and solar, fuel is needed to generate electricity and there are losses associated with the transmission of electricity. Sounds to me like electric cars are not the answer.

Seems like a lot of people disregard the amount of components, outside the fueling consideration, depends on petroleum based items. It ain’t made from hemp.

I might be fuzzy on my laws of physics but the conversion of energy from one to another experiences some loss. The more efficient use of an energy source is in the native form. Am I wrong?
Only a Declared National State of Emergency will save the planet from Climate Change. But I have complete confidence that with the aid of the media and Democrat Party the sheep will be able to make it happen.
In any event the COVID-19 is the crisis de jour, don't you know. Climate change has had it's day and is not behaving as planned.

EVs were using gas at $5.00 and electricity at 6 cents to try to show an MPGe of 110 mpge.
When gas dropped to $2.50, dropping the MPGe to 55 mpge, and then electricity is actually 12.5 cents on national average, dropping the MPGe to 30 at best, people understood the hype was a lie. It’s easy to lie with numbers.

So why do they need taxpayer subsidies to survive?? And why do they cost so damned much?
Factor in the car cost, alone, means electric cars make no sense.
Objective until you realize that coal plants are being legislated out of existence. When Nuclear power returns then maybe we can talk.
If an electric car can be recharged in the same time it takes a fuel driven car to tank up and also to drive 350-400 miles in summer with the A/C running or in winter with the heater running and the recharge stations are widely available those cars might have a chance.

Oh, come on. Everyone who watches TV knows that if you shoot a car with a handgun, it causes a huge explosion and fireball, and the car flips over.
I’m actually considering a Ford Mustang electric SUV.
They are going to have a financing deal where they promise to buy the car back at a specific price after 3 years. Since they are new to the electric car biz buyers get a $7,500 tax CREDIT the year it is bought. Since I have my own business I can write off the entire price in one year (thanks new tax law). For a $50K to $60K car my cost of ownership comes down to about $3K per year, most of which I will make up in gasoline savings.
Ditch it in 3 years and I don’t have to worry about the battery life.
Sounds like a great plan.
Play the game by the rules you are given.
Its not my objection that the point, I’m just pointing out the very glaring vulnerability of these electric vehicles!
And remember that Obummer closed the last remaining LEAD mine in the USA, citing its a toxic & hazardous.
I guess its politics over science every day with these democrats.

In case you haven’t noticed, the model 3 is not beholden to subsidies. Please try again, harder, with more logic and less heart.
Sell me on the subsidy dependency with model 3. Oops, you can’t.
Most Model 3s sold in the US have state subsidies.
California their largest market is 2 grand I believe.
Other states like Colorado and NJ are much more.
Like I said, sell me with numbers, or it’s a no go. “I think” and “much more” is not a hard sell. A tech manager wouldn’t give you the time of day with that.
I see these hard facts:
(1) low price of consumer entry.
(2) no oil changes
(3) no gas station stops
(4) refueling done during time you aren’t using car.
Even without 7500$ subsidy, if it still goes that high ANYWHERE, 2 through 4 alone make it worth the difference for many Americans, and many are waking up to that fact.
The sales on the model 3 speak for themselves.
And as soon as the battery gets big enough to tow a standard enclosed trailer 300 miles in on a charge, the Big 3 had better be ready to become the niche 3 or ready to play electric ball.
