With millions of Americans concerned about coronavirus, radio host Rush Limbaugh is providing some perspective on the actual number of fatalities from COVID-19 compared to those from other causes.
Coronavirus: 21,000 deaths.
Seasonal flu: 113,000.
Malaria: 228,000.
Suicide: 249,000.
Traffic fatalities, 314,000 deaths.
Alcohol related deaths, 581,000.
Smoking-related deaths, 1,162,000.
Cancer deaths, 1,909,000 deaths.
Deaths attributed to starvation, 2,382,000 deaths.

A lot/most of this is not contagious as covid 19 apparently is. Just numbers from worldometers.info which apparently is a thing. Number, we have numbers. But, I notice the obvious is missing. The 150,000,000 firearms related deaths so.......

if we didn’t have all these causes of death, we would surely have an overpopulation problem...

But the Coronavirus is just gettng started. Killed 1000 just yesterday. The flu never killed more than 508 in one day.

These numbers can’t be true. Quid pro Joe tells us that 150 million Americans are killed by gun violence.

Great article for some perspective.

What on earth are you babbling about?
150 million firearms deaths?
Are you Joe Biden?
To: rktman
Heck-those things killed more people than 9-11. I think we overreacted....BIG TIME! No way we should have done a thing about it using this logic.

Well, despite the best efforts by the u.n. and WHO, the death rate world wide remains at 100%. We must pump more tax dollars into the research to stop this loss of life.

And how many CV deaths are really CV deaths? And how many are people under 80. under 70, under 50, etc. And how many already had severely weakened immune systems?
It is very common for old people to die of pneumonia because of other underlying weaknesses to their system. We don’t consider it to really be the killer, but more the result of their weakened system.
Same is true here. It really skews the numbers. Should a 30 year old person fear pneumonia because of those statistics? Should they even think about it?
Should our collective response destroy western civilization? I would argue that it shouldn’t. but I’m just one guy.

Where did 21K come from? World deaths are above 50K from CV19.

You know what this means?? We'll NEVER be allowed out of our houses with numbers like this. We're quarantined forever. Who want to go out in a scary world like that, with death at every corner? Not me.

“Death by Hillary Clinton” not on the list
To: rktman
Understand your point about the causes of death that are not contagious but the ones that are are at the bottom of the list.
True, if we hadn't shut the planet down, those numbers would be higher. But, I doubt if even then they would've reached the levels of those that aren't contagious.
Pure conjecture on my part.

Most sites have the number around 50K.
I don’t see anyone reporting a number as low as 21K worldwide deaths.

Which one of these is doubling every couple of days? I imagine car accidents are declining while suicides are increasing. Whats the point? Ignore epidemiology because other shitty stuff also cuts lives short?

NOT a complete list. My mom (rest her soul) was carrying a bottle of wine into the house from the grocery store, slipped and fell and cut her hand rather severely when the bottle broke. Listed as an alcohol related incident. So, maybe some things aren’t as they seem? :-)
