Can’t take the heat? Get out of the kitchen. I’m sure there is a manly retired Admiral about that will take the post, and support his Commander-in-Chief.

Both wrong.

The Captain for leaking operational readiness details outside the chain of command.

The Secretary for not simply dismissing him but feeling compelled to fly 8000 miles to his ship to deliver that diatribe.

Yes and no.

The SecNav lost his cool.

If his beef was that the Captain went public, he shouldn’t have been public in his name-calling, IMHO. I think its a bad look.

He could have referred to chain of command and operational security... it would have been enough, I think.

They both took their cases to the press. This was an internal matter and Modly had no business making public comments on the subject. These people are all incapable of saying the two words that would save their careers. “No Comment”.

It’s highly unusual for any service secretary — appointed & confirmed or acting—to relieve any officer of their service, especially one who’s below an O-9 level...Highly Unusual.

“Both wrong.”

The good news is, got rid of two idiots with one incident.

Yes, this is absolutely not the time to act so cluelessly reckless.

(Recklessly clueless?)

Very well said, Marlowe. Fighting your battles in the press results in no one winning.

Military and Pentagon need a total overhaul of politicians in uniform running to press.

This whole thing is a fiasco.

I don’t think the captain leaked the information rather his email was leaked by someone else.

I think I read that it was leaked.

You might be correct. But I heard it was in the speech delivered to the ship’s crew, with whom the captain appeared to be fairly popular. If that was the case, leakage wouldn’t be a surprise.
