Anyone comparing non-mask wearing people to drunk or a methed-out unbathed and urine-soaked raving homeless person, that is, deranged and not fully human is an idiot of galactic proportions.

You intentionally missed the point which is not surprising for someone who derides fellow FReepers for placing a value on science and freedom.

I'm a scientist by education and profession. The things you stated in the previous post and in this post prove you don't know jack squat about science or civics. Maybe you're too young to know anything about the swine flu vaccinations of the mid-70's or how rushed vaccines for hyped pandemics don't always end well, especially for children. But history notwithstanding, you'll be there lined up ready for your stick because anyone questioning Commissar Fauci or the government hasn't wiped their ass in a decade. Such a good little conservative lemming.

Fact is, masks don't work against viruses. I could link you to numerous studies proving that to be true, but that wouldn't prevent you from trying to stop a virus with that piece of cloth, while feeling superior, and looking like the hopeless moron you are. Your mask is the new armband of the insufferably virtuous.

I'll look at you wearing your mask with amusement because it is a blatant admission of being scared stupid. Unlike Ernest, however, you should remain hiding under your bed, quaking in fear, and let others enjoy their lives without being subjected to your illiteracy. Thanks in advance.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. C. S. Lewis

If you’re a scientist, we are really hosed. Anyone with half a brain knows it’s not the size of the virus but the size of the droplets.

You are the one scared, of idiot conspiracies and imaginary bogymen.

I might have my doubts about Fauci, but when I read anything by an anti-vaxxer I know I’m getting nothing but ignorant bullshit.

Good grief. You insist on putting your ignorance on display for all to see. So disappointing from a FReeper, but then we have many scientific illiterates as members.

If you ever manage to pull your head from your anus, you should read some of this research. There are lots of big words and challenging concepts, but I'm sure you can muddle your way through.

A Review of Science Relevant to Covid-19 Social Policy - Masks and respirators do not work.

There have been extensive randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies, and meta-analysis reviews of RCT studies, which all show that masks and respirators do not work to prevent respiratory influenza-like illnesses, or respiratory illnesses believed to be transmitted by droplets and aerosol particles.

Furthermore, the relevant known physics and biology, which I review, are such that masks and respirators should not work. It would be a paradox if masks and respirators worked, given what we know about viral respiratory diseases: The main transmission path is long-residence-time aerosol particles (< 2.5 μm), which are too fine to be blocked, and the minimum-infective-dose is smaller than one aerosol particle.

The present paper about masks illustrates the degree to which governments, the mainstream media, and institutional propagandists can decide to operate in a science vacuum, or select only incomplete science that serves their interests. Such recklessness is also certainly the case with the current global lockdown of over 1 billion people, an unprecedented experiment in medical and political history.

No RCT study with verified outcome shows a benefit for HCW or community members in households to wearing a mask or respirator. There is no such study. There are no exceptions.

Likewise, no study exists that shows a benefit from a broad policy to wear masks in public (more on this below).

Furthermore, if there were any benefit to wearing a mask, because of the blocking power against droplets and aerosol particles, then there should be more benefit from wearing a respirator (N95) compared to a surgical mask, yet several large meta-analyses, and all the RCT, prove that there is no such relative benefit.

Masks and respirators do not work.

Nonpharmaceutical Measures for Pandemic Influenza in Nonhealthcare Settings—Personal Protective and Environmental Measures

Although mechanistic studies support the potential effect of hand hygiene or face masks, evidence from 14 randomized controlled trials of these measures did not support a substantial effect on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.

Face Masks

In our systematic review, we identified 10 RCTs that reported estimates of the effectiveness of face masks in reducing laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infections in the community from literature published during 1946–July 27, 2018. In pooled analysis, we found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks (RR 0.78, 95% CI 0.51–1.20; I2 = 30%, p = 0.25) (Figure 2). One study evaluated the use of masks among pilgrims from Australia during the Hajj pilgrimage and reported no major difference in the risk for laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infection in the control or mask group (33). Two studies in university settings assessed the effectiveness of face masks for primary protection by monitoring the incidence of laboratory-confirmed influenza among student hall residents for 5 months (9,10). The overall reduction in ILI or laboratory-confirmed influenza cases in the face mask group was not significant in either studies (9,10). Study designs in the 7 household studies were slightly different: 1 study provided face masks and P2 respirators for household contacts only (34), another study evaluated face mask use as a source control for infected persons only (35), and the remaining studies provided masks for the infected persons as well as their close contacts (11–13,15,17). None of the household studies reported a significant reduction in secondary laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infections in the face mask group (11–13,15,17,34,35).

Disposable medical masks (also known as surgical masks) are loose-fitting devices that were designed to be worn by medical personnel to protect accidental contamination of patient wounds, and to protect the wearer against splashes or sprays of bodily fluids (36). There is limited evidence for their effectiveness in preventing influenza virus transmission either when worn by the infected person for source control or when worn by uninfected persons to reduce exposure. Our systematic review found no significant effect of face masks on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.

But you keep feeling superior while babbling incoherently about droplets. Idiot.

Put “TRUMP 2020” on your mask and watch liberal heads explode.

I suppose the next edict would be “No political statements on masks” - and so help me Hannah, the mask Nazis would then denounce anyone who did so.

Wonder if anyone has monitored the O2 saturation levels with one of those finger clamp devices of someone wearing a mask for several hours.

Properly gasmask with new filters are basicly P-100 rated full face respirators that seal off your face & filter 99.97% of aerosols & particulates in the air going thru the filter.

If I may ask, what make/model of gas mask do you wear? Which cartridges (if it takes them) do you use (biological or chemical or particle)?

Actually; I wear a simple bandana tied around the back of my neck with the bottom part of the front tucked under my shirt collar. I simply pull the top up around the bridge of the nose upon entering the store and pull it down immediately upon exiting.

I understand that it does nothing substantive except make me look like a guy who is about to rob a train on horseback in the 1800's, but it allows me to get into the store to buy food, and it makes the sheeple in the store feel "safe" because we are adhering to the rules put in place by all of the "experts". It's all theater.
