there isn’t anything wrong with four ten hour days, a lot of people like nurses do a lot hours in a few days then get three or four days off in a row. Like nothing wrong with working from home if it fits the business.

As long as it’s not MANDATED then who cares.

A six day workweek is straight from God God Almighty. However, we couldnt have millions off H1Bs if we did that. Democrats will to power using Castro tactics, promising a life of ease and comfort. Well that should frighten everyone.

I agree with Yang on this. Why not 4-day work weeks? I've enjoyed 3-day weekends often while putting in four 10-hour days. I think they're awesome!

Count me in as a big fan of 4-day work weeks. For many of us, much of our time at work is spent watching the clock, taking breaks, chit-chatting, basically not working. Staying at the office just for the sake of putting in 40 hours? Is this really necessary?

Working hours have been shrinking throughout history from the days when every able body worked sunup to sundown seven days a week. I see no reason not to continue this trend.

Misguided, top-down government mandates have just cost 40 million Americans their jobs and may well have cast the economy into the greatest depression and history.

In the wake of all of this, Mr. Yang wants another top-down government mandate the unintended consequences of which can only be imagined when considered in the context of our wounded economy.

The suggestion coming as it does at this time betrays a hubris which is simply breathtaking.

Mr. Yang is obviously ignorant of the downside consequences of such regulations in Europe where wages are lower because 13 month pay periods are mandated, month-long vacations are mandated, paid sick leave almost without end is mandated etc. These are trade-offs mandated from above which buy votes but which also steal liberty, and upward mobility.

At root, these mandates are driven by perennial leftist urge to obtain equality even at the expense of liberty -or even at the cost of a healthy economy.

Welcome to Free Republic.
For some industries, 4 day workweeks could work.
The question is, what impact would 10 hour workdays have on families with school-age kids?
Or are we suggesting 32-hour workweeks?

For several years (’70s and ‘80s) in Alaska local government, we were on 4 10s. It was great. Every Monday off.

And in California — again in local government — we were on a weird schedule. I think it was called “9/80”. Over two weeks we worked 9 hours a day, and every other week had a day off.” It was OK, but confusing.

Why Dems and RINOS don’t like HARD MANUAL Labor...
Genesis 3(AKJV)...
8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree,
whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. 20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. 21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
G-D ORDAINED HARD MANUAL Labor for the Men and Put the Husband OVER the Wife and introduced Child Labor Pains
There fore Dems HATE G-D and EVERYTHING ordained by HIM!

I would love for getting to explain how a four day work week would create jobs. Is basically saying every employee would work a 10 hour day instead of an eight hour day, meaning the same number of hours would be used but over a different time.. I still don’t see how that would create jobs, and I’m not sure if he has a clue how it would either other than some talking point to keep himself relevant.

I like 3-day weekends too, but let’s focus on getting an all-American workforce first Jimmy Wang Yang.

Depends on the situation. People aren’t necessarily that productive as you add hours to the work day. If it works for you, great.

The point is it should not be mandated by outsiders. People don’t hire you because you need a job, they hire you because they need something done.

Small business already works way more than 40 hours a week. who is this 3 day work week for? Government? Government already has way more holidays and shorter hours than regular industry. We don’t need government workers to be any more entitled or worthless than they already are.

As for reduced hours as a way of “creating more jobs”, 32 hour work weeks for example, if this works for you, fine. Lots of businesses have gone to 20 hour weeks to avoid paying benefits, and there is an advantage in work forces with a lot of turnover... though short hours might actually cause the high turnover.

But in most businesses people are not interchangeable cogs. You work a full week, you want people around you who are going to work a full week with you. So again this should not be mandated by outsiders.

I used to work four 10 hour days, including the weekend. No problem. (not what yingyang meant, though)

A 10-hour workday would be ok by everyone I know. It’s the 12-hour shift that I never liked.
