When BLM says, “Slavery was/is evil,” aren’t they, then saying that Mohammad who practiced it and approved of slavery was evil? That sounds like hate speech to me.

But it is precisely a debate of Republican vs. Democrat, and therein lies the problem.

Too many just assume these antifa are spur of the moment vandals. They are not. They see history not as fact, but as narrative which can be deleted and written over. Their street leaders are tough dedicated anarchists, the rioters are Droids, brainwashed by 12 to 18 years of post modern indoctrination. They are like the troopers in Star Wars when Palpatine simply used the Force to take control of their minds. Listen to their speech. They parrot the same words and phrases. Phrases not chosen at random. Phrases designed to inflame while being devoid of real content so challenging them to defend their action is useless. And remember they are organized, communicate instantly through social media, and they are proactive. We OTOH at best are reactive.
While we’re at it, why don’t we kick AOC out if Congress. She must be a descendent of the most evil man to ever step foot in Mexico, the conquistador Cortez who caused the fall if the Aztec Empire. Her Spanish heritage gives her Spanish privilege and she must apologize to brown skinned Mexicans for it. Brown Lives Matter.
Not that the PC crowd cares, but a person must be judged within the context of his/her times. How did the person behave given that condition?
George Washington owned slaves. That was not unusual for the times. And he treated them humanely. George gets a pass.
Simon Legree* owned slaves. Again, that was not usual for the times. But he beat his slaves, and worked them to death. That was evil, and unusual for the times. So no statue for Simon. And if you want to remove one that exists, I won’t object.
* I know Simon Legree was a fictional character. Just tryin’ to make a point.
Indeed! Here in St. Augustine - home base of Florida since 1565 - they’re busy taking down the few “Confederate” monuments that we have, basically at the urging of a black “pastor” from Gainesville and his mostly white female USF professor “congregation” or local Massachusetts retirees (with a few bored black kids they’ve managed to round up).
They’ll be turning their eyes to the Spanish markers next, and I actually think I know the first one that is going to be in their sights. Not revealing it though. I don’t want to give anybody any ideas.

I have to laugh at the idiots tearing down Columbus statues when one considers Columbus never set foot in North America. His exploration was limited to Central and South America. I suggest we force the emigration of the morons tearing down his statue and ship them to EL Salvador where they can protest down there with MS 13 putting caps in their butts while they do it

The flag also re-appeared briefly in the Spanish Civil War as the banner of the Carlists (aligned with Franco); in it’s original form (saltire of Burgundy) it had a “saw-toothed” design (not smooth bars). The smooth lines in those state flags are more akin to the “cross of St. Patrick” (which when added to the Union Jack gave it its current form).
