Some teachers don’t want to go back because they will have to face the kids they can’t control, and they’ve been enjoying their time off from the class disrupters. Also, some of them are afraid they’ll catch the CoVid, not from their students, but from each other. Distance learning is just so much easier.

Oh, plus everything you said.

I’m not so sure. Teachers got a taste of working from home and they like it—can’t blame them there.

The private schools are closed too, in CA—Trump’s idea won’t help those of us with tryannical governors. Boy every underemployed or unemployed recent college grad is going to get a tutoring job very easily!

The problem is, CA’s tyrannical governor also closed all the private schools. Millions of those students have been thrown out of school as well. But yes—before he did that last Fri—those schools were all suddenly full with waiting lists.

I was amused to see all the secular Bay Area parents suddenly rushing to Christian schools. Bible classes daily. Probably one reason Newsom closed them too.

I also agree that Trump should fire the teachers as Reagan fired the air traffic controllers—but they were federal employees, correct?

Trump should issue an executive order stating in person teaching is essential, like meatpackers. Kayleigh equated that today. I think education is more essential than eating pork chops.

Yes, I read that many teachers’ unions are negotiating that they only have to work 4 hours a day during “remote learning.”

The Dept of Education does not fund public schools. That’s for the states. The fed Dept of Ed funds about 8%, mostly for the Office of Civil Rights and some disability/special needs stuff.

78 percent of Democrats oppose re-opening schools while 79 percent of Republicans support the decision

This is bass-ackwards. Republicans should look towards every opportunity to close schools and keep them closed - forever. Granted, most Republicans value education, but those pesky jobs get in the way of keeping the chudren home for some edumucation.

I noticed my district’s school schedule specifically allows Nov 3 as a day off now. Originally because of “safety issues from voters on campus” but now still a day off even though 100% remote. And the district is acting as if it’s going to be 100% remote all year. No plan to return or reopen schools. Except for daycares on site. Because those daycare workers aren’t unionized.

Studies are showing it’s not just schools that conservatives are more brave about—we are also more willing to go to a restaurant, get our hair cut, all that other stuff.

It’s striking—the differences. I think it would be the same if a Dem were president. I think liberals just live more based on emotions (fear) rather than facts (risk-reward ratio).

We can’t close schools and keep them closed forever. You really want more BLM types running around? And more H1-B imports? We need an educated society; we need STEM.

I’m of the opinion that the concept of state governors should be studied for obsolescence...

And be replaced with what?

That makes complete sense when talking about the average Rat and average Republican - throw out the uber rich in both parties. Conservatives, those that live conservative lives, forget party affiliation, tend to take risks. Those are calculated risks, not wild spur of the moment thrill seeking risks. They start businesses for example. You don't see that in Rat infested urban areas. They are educated risks. You won't find more than 1% of the population that is literate in Rat ingested urban areas. They are planned risks. You won't find ...

If they won’t get off their butts to teach in person at the schools taxpayers have spent trillions to build, they need to be fired and all teacher unions abolished.

We need an educated society; we need STEM.

Do you really think the BLM types are actually educated? Or were you being facetious?

We should not use arguments like more H1-B visas as excuses to fix the multiple underlying structural problems. Americans that want to be educated will find a way. The BLM types won't get educated no matter what. Parents that value education will make sure their children are educated. It is best that their children are not indoctrinated at every level of school.

One of the barriers to STEM jobs is competing with foreigners to get into college. Foreigners pay full tuition - not the in-state tuition that state run asylums charge. That has nothing to do with academic achievement - it's a pure money problem enabled by government.

Strip away student visas. Foreign students either take back knowledge to our enemies or they remain here competing with Americans for jobs. What is need is a lack of un-American thinking foreigners in our workplaces.

This will create demand for American workers in STEM jobs. Initially, there would be a lack of supply. Businesses will start making wiser choices.

What value do most tech companies really offer? Twitter? Facebook? The thousand of smartphone apps? That's where a ton of these H1-B visa types end up. How about tech companies whether software, engineering, manufacturing (yes, there's tons of tech there), pharmaceuticals, defense, etc. started to make products needed by businesses and everyday common people that truly provided a benefit?

We can have our cake and eat it too. We do not need H1-B imports. We do not need higher education polluted with foreigners. We can educated our children without government schools. And it won't make a bit of difference to BLM and Antifa followers. They are not productive members of society.

There are proactive things that government can do in post-secondary education. First, defund all liberal BS (normally awarding BA's and MA's) curriculum. If it has "studies" in the name, defund it. Second, fund real mathematics and science. Watch the programs that have indoctrinated so many just dry up. I'll be joyful to see former educators on a street corner panhandling because they are dirt poor, but more importantly because they have harmed our republic so much.

This will break the cycle of leftist indoctrination and poor quality education.

I should note that I home-schooled my children. It did not require great time or effort. It may have required less time than having to reeducated my children after being in the hands of government schools (we did that for a while, at a so-called very good, but liberal school district.) Bad habits are hard to break.

Thanks for your reply. No, I meant the BLM rioters are uneducated, not educated. They are frustrated because TV shows successful black people like that is the norm, and it is not.

Americans that want to be educated won’t always “find a way.” It’s tough for most parents to teach Calculus and physics, even if they had the time—25% of parents are single moms. Everyone is working, and if not, probably not capable of teaching at the high school level.
