Texas humidity , especially in the
Houston area, is brutal. California
bay area locations are a lot drier.
I’ve lived in both areas. We survived
hot summers with thermostats set at
78-83 degrees. A temperature differential
of 20 degrees between outdoor and indoor
temps is tolerable.
Live in SE New Mexico presently, where
it’s been over 100 deg for most of
August. Thermostat set at 78 deg.
Texas is a great place to live if you
don’t mind sitting in traffic for hours
on end. Texans show great pride in
being American.

Thanks

You use natural gas, right?

Is it very noisy?

I’ve got Nat gas to my deck right outside my bedroom.

I notice w/ Nat gas it has less power.

Wonder what percentage of electricity use is by government-funded illegal aliens.

Wait! I have a great idea! They should tear out some more hydro dams. That’ll fix it.

Hey... take down a few Confederate statues. Make all those who “matter” feel better. Oh yea... this is Cali. Do they have Lee statues? Any Juniphero Serra statues left? Dems only worry about important Shi###. Not power.

Yes. We have a generator to keep “remote learning” (and our own remote jobs) going here in CA—first the rolling blackouts when it gets hot, and soon, in a couple of months, to prepare for the power being turned off when it is windy (to prevent more wildfires).

Sigh.

No, no. They already have taken away your water from the Central Valley (Red voters and farmers).

And have destroyed many dams already, and want to destroy even more of the ones that were left. This to save a fish.

But shiiting in the street and under the highway embankments does save water!

“Their theme will be that Whites are responsible for the power outages.”

Yes, but the term they use in the beginning is “Disproportionate Impact”. After they run with that for a while, then the Useful Idiots are unleashed to riot against Whitey.

I remember Cali having power outages way back in 1998 or so. You would think they would learned to prepare for such heat waves, but then it is Cali.

The outtages were caused by shortages when California meddled with the market and capped prices in-state producers could charge. When the electricity demand rose as California grew without any new plants, the utilities had no financial incentive to increase production since the price they could charge was capped. (As is commonly warned about Socialism and government price fixing).

Some of the in-state utilities had suspicious fires, enough to take them off line for "quality control inspections", instead of increasing output at the low government rate. California then had to negotiate to buy power from out of state energy providers at much higher rates, bankrupting Pacific Gas & Electric among other long term costs.

Unable to pay, California went to rolling blackouts. They claimed Los Angeles was exempt from the regulations due to a different utility agreement but they really wanted to keep the 'hoods in air conditioning because they wanted to avoid looting and riots. Instead California targeted more self-sufficient (and more Republican) areas of the state. Gun-grabber Governor Gray Davis, just into his second term, lost his job in a recall election to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It was never a power problem; it was always a Socialism problem.

In my town it was 108 with 21% humidity.

A Swamp Cooler is effective and energy efficient in low humidity areas. In high humidity areas it would be a torture device.

“I just got me a generator hooked up to the house and running on natural gas and with enough capacity to pretty much run the whole house.”

I did the same, mine runs on gas and propane. Hooked to the house through a lockout switch.

Sounds like you could utilize a swamp cooler. I hear they are cheap to make/buy and cheap to run. Also, in that dry a heat, fans and misters would be useful.

Those auto start systems aren’t that hard to piece together. If you know a good electrician, time to start being suspiciously friendly.
