Yeah, the guy I spoke with did a preliminary view of the site. Can probably get an adequate system for $3k-$4k. Cheaper is for manual switch to start.
More for future fears due to geopolitical situation. Our systems are pretty robust here and service response is quick.
Biggest fear at the moment is anarchists taking a road trip with rifles. Would affect us all for several weeks, from the estimates I’ve gotten from professionals.
We have some competing projects at the moment, so we’re waffling. I’m more in favor than DH.
They're popular in Florida because we lose power due to hurricanes..(not because of the incompetence of a liberals -- like in California).
They closed the nuclear power plants in CA (cleanest, safest form of energy, but requires an educated populace to understand and to be its operators—and now we see half of the populace neither can understand the immense value to them nor can they be reliable operators).
anarchists taking a road trip with rifles.
Low order of probability,IMHO. Theyll be stealing from each other in town for a loooong time.
“A Swamp Cooler is effective and energy efficient in low humidity areas. In high humidity areas it would be a torture device.”
I would switch from cooler to AC when my printer started making spurious characters.
According to the prevailing mythology, Whites are billionaires who have endless supplies of everything from food to energy, so they are insulated from all challenges.
Exactly
The upside is that "heat kills the virus".
I haven't heard that bromide since May, when it was hinted that the mask-only rules would be dropped as the virus would be "burned out" by summer. (cough)
Nevada and Arizona have 110+ temps but the mask ban is still on.
“You use natural gas, right?”
Yes, I decided to use natural gas, don’t have to mess with having gasoline cans around, and don’t have to empty the tank when not in use. Much cleaner and convenient solution.
“Is it very noisy?”
As for noise, it’s about the same as a lawnmower. You could device some noise shielding contraption, if it’s close to where you sleep.
“I notice w/ Nat gas it has less power.”
Yes, natural gas is not as energy dense as gasoline. But 5500 watts is more than enough for my needs. You just have to be careful about simultaneously using appliances that are energy hogs.
Makes sense, plus Nat gas is cheaper than gasoline.
Loud as a lawnmower? wow that is LOUD!
I would not load it up, just use it for essentials fridge lights puter tvs microwave
Thanks for the info
Oh and BTW the closest neighbors have little dogs that yap yap yap all the time
Don’t care if the generator noise bothers them...payback!
Thanks for the info, I’ll have to see if it goes on sale again, it’s up to $899 now.
I have a neighbor, next little town over, that is disabled in several ways, sleep equipment etc
Plus gets heatstroke in way hot weather
She pulls ice packs and froz veggies from the freezer to keep her from stroking out when it's too hot and elec is off, so no air conditioning.
LA county already two big fires, don’t know the stats on them off hand.
See reports on local news, heck LA county is HUGE, and they don’t even tell what towns they are by!
“I would not load it up, just use it for essentials fridge lights puter tvs microwave”
It’ll be more than plenty for that. If you have one of those digital utility meters you can go look at and it will tell you how much power you’re using at any one time. You’ll be surprised how little you really use most of the time.
great thanks!
