Maryland man sentenced to prison for throwing parties against COVID-19 orders

He’s serving hard time for hard partying.

A Maryland man was sentenced Friday to a year in prison for hosting two parties in defiance of the state’s coronavirus orders barring large gatherings, a local Fox affiliate reported.

Shawn Marshall Myers, 42, had 50 to 60 people over in his Hughesville home for the first bash he threw on March 22, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

When officers arrived to shut down the soiree, Myers was “argumentative…but eventually agreed to disband his party,” the county State’s Attorney alleged.

But he went right back to raging, throwing another party with more than 50 people less than a week later on March 27, the station reported.

“Beyond being argumentative, Myers directed his guests to stay in defiance of [Gov. Larry Hogan’s] orders and the officers’ lawful orders to disband the party.”

A year in prison for defying Lockdown Larry's stay at home orders? This has to be unconstitutional.

he acts like had had the right to freedom of speech or peaceful assembly or something. He needs to go back and read the Constitution.

Ridiculous! My son in Miami is so happy. Republican Governor DeSantis just lifted up all restrictions for businesses including no mandatory mask and no fines of any kind. My son is at his gym which is fully functioning and no masks required. I hope Governor Abbott will do the same in Texas!

That is what socialists and communists do.

Next it will be life in prison for watering your grass.

You just cannot defy your master.

None of thesr posters know sht about the situation. The guy had a party the week before and gave the cops an argument, the next week he did it again. He’s a neighborhood nuisance, and the courts are familiar with him and his records. The governor put out an emergency order. If you cant follow your elected officials you are no better than the blm, antifa etc. You dont like the governor, then elect someone else. Don’t be a douch.

This is the guy Jeb Bush wanted to primary Trump in 2020. One more reason Jeb is not a real conservative.

Sorry, not how it works. The Gov of PA was sued and just had all of his lockdown orders thrown out as unconstitutional.

Gov. Hogan sued, plaintiffs call his stay-at-home order ‘unconstitutional’

https://wjla.com/news/local/md-delegate-files-lawsuit-against-gov-hogan-not-allowing-him-attend-protest-rally

Larry being sued as well. I don’t know what the outcome is but Delegate Parrott released the following in a statement:

‘Threatening a legislator with arrest for exercising his first amendment right to free speech is not only unconstitutional, it is wrong. We live in a Republic, and I want to make sure that no one person in Maryland or in any other state of the nation should be able to have unchecked power.’

The lawsuit is asking for a preliminary injunction against the executive stay home order and ultimately, a temporary restraining order keeping the Governor and state from enforcing a large portion of the stay at home order.

If you want to see something really off the wall, look at the Colorado governor’s latest restrictions on college kids living off campus in Boulder. It’s practically house arrest - a three person limit on gatherings, restrictions as to how far you can leave your house and how often, and even a ban on Ubers or other means of escape. And if they are caught violating it, they are literally confined to their homes, can’t go outside and it really is house arrest. And while the police were not allowed to do anything about rioters all over CO, they’re expected to enforce this stuff to the letter.

I honestly don’t see why people in CO aren’t out in the streets in protest.
