A photo showing two New Jersey high school students apparently mocking the police death of George Floyd has been circulating on social media.
The photo shows one shirtless student wearing a red “Make American Great Again” hat and a police badge on a chain pinning his knee to the back of the neck of another teen on the ground in an ape mask, NJ.com reported.
Floyd died May 25 after a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly eight minutes.
Multiple parents have confirmed to NJ.com that the unmasked student in the photo attends Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington.
Jeffrey Moore, the superintendent of Hunterdon Central Regional High School district, confirmed to the news outlet that local police are investigating racist social media posts that have circulated in recent weeks, but did not say whether the photo in question was part of that investigation.
“We’ve had recent incidents on social media involving students, and incidents of infiltration with racist slurs on videoconference platforms,” Moore said.
In August, when the photo first appeared online, Moore sent a letter to parents of students at the school.
“I write to share my utter disgust and deepest concern over a recent racist post on social media, allegedly perpetrated by students of our school,” Moore wrote in the letter, according to NJ.com.
“We take such reports very seriously and pursue all avenues available to protect the safety and wellbeing of everyone who lives and learns in our community. In that, we work with parents and law enforcement, including our partners in the Raritan Township Police Department and the Hunterdon County Bias Crimes Unit, without hesitation.”

They were probably mocking the MAGA people, but didn’t understand that their audiences have no comprehension skills.

Doubtful in Hunterdon County (rural western Jersey); it’s Trump country. Trump won 41% of the vote in NJ.
Not seeing the pic, all speculative, but knowing teens wishing to fit in with their liberal lasses to get laid, my money is still on that.

No problem; Trump won the county handily, and I don’t suspect most of the lasses are liberal there. It is a rural county that is 86% white.

My wife grew up there and I lived there for 9 years. We went back a few years ago and visited an old friend of hers. She lives on a large rural lot with chickens, rabbits, variety of other birds iirc. They use the eggs from the chickens but it is mainly for the grandkid’s entertainment - and the neighbor kids.
I had never met her husband and we were talking. We live in a liberal big city now. He was talking about how a raccoon had got in and killed most of his animals just recently.
“Yeah - so I trapped it and drove it all the way on the other side of the river.”
“Huh? Are you nuts!? I would have killed it right then and there!”
He laughed. “Well, actually I did. But seeing as we just met and you being from liberal land - I didn’t want to upset you!”
We were there for Independence Day and my kids loved the small town parades with all of the patriotism. Too bad all the folks in the cities ruin it for the country folks when it comes to state elections.
Someone made a rude post on social media about a drug dealer. Call the police!!!
