The White House said Friday that President Donald Trump was suffering “mild symptoms” of COVID-19, adding that he was in good spirits and working in the family quarters though the announcement of his illness threw the country deeper into uncertainty just a month before the presidential election.
The revelation came in a Trump tweet about 1 a.m. after he had returned from an afternoon political fundraiser without telling the crowd he had been exposed to an aide with the disease that has killed more than 205,000 Americans and more than a million people worldwide.
First lady Melania Trump also tested positive, the president said, and several others in the White House have, too, prompting concern that the White House or even Trump himself might have spread the virus further. The Trumps' son Barron, who lives at the White House, tested negative.
Trump has spent much of the year downplaying the threat of the virus, rarely wearing a protective mask and urging states and cities to “reopen” and reduce or eliminate shutdown rules.
Both Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris have tested negative, their campaign said. Vice President Mike Pence tested negative for the virus Friday morning and “remains in good health,” his spokesman said.
Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who was with him and many others on Saturday and has been on Capitol Hill meeting with lawmakers, also tested negative, the White House said.
Trump's diagnosis was sure to have a destabilizing effect in Washington and around the world, raising questions about how far the virus has spread through the highest levels of U.S. government. Hours before Trump announced he had contracted the virus, the White House said a top aide who had traveled with him during the week had tested positive.

I have an admission.
I assert that normally President Trump would be broadcasting over Zoom or virtually in some fashion how well he feels, how everything will be fine, how he feels great.
But today, the day AFTER he tests positive for Covid-19 we don’t see him at all?
I think that’s odd.
But may I please be wrong because the man IS 74 years old, he’s been running himself ragged of late.....

You would think that his daily interaction with that list of people would create a large fraction of infections. Only Hope Hicks was mentioned as positive for the virus.
But of course state media has a field day blasting Trump for flouting cautions of virus spread.
What is clear is that many, many more people have the virus but no symptoms. They are asymptomatic, they have no idea they even have the virus.
And for most of those that contract the virus and show symptoms, their symptoms are mild.
A very small fraction of the population that is positive for the virus will actually develop full-blown dangerous COVID symptoms such as inability to breathe or pneumonia.
Scientists need to isolate with precision why certain people get dangerous symptoms. One way to do this is via genetic expression array testing to see what part of their genome overreacts to the virus.

Exactly. This CNN report is every bit as accurate as anything published by The Atlantic.
Age is tied to the comorbidities as older people tend to have more disease such as COPD, diabetes, heart disease etc. It’s not necessarily a comorbidity on its own.
Do you know for a fact his BMI is >30 or is that an assumption?

In his experience, most patients will have been cured after this regimen. The results have been only 1 death vs 479 patients cured this way. He says 320 of his patients have been high risk.
