Pollster predicts Loeffler victory but is less confident on Perdue's chances
Washington Examiner ^ | December 25, 2020 | Michael Lee

One of the nation’s more accurate pollsters is bullish on Sen. Kelly Loeffler’s chances to win her runoff race against Raphael Warnock but less confident that Sen. David Perdue will best Jon Ossoff.

“We see the Warnock-Loeffler race as one that will be less close. We feel more confident that Loeffler is going to probably prevail,” Robert Cahaly, the chief pollster for the Trafalgar Group, told the Washington Examiner. “We feel more confident that the other one is going to be closer.”

Trafalgar’s most recent polls in Georgia show two different races developing, with Loeffler leading Warnock by almost 7 points, 52.2%-45.5%. Meanwhile, Perdue is holding an under 3-point lead over Ossoff, 50.2%-47.5%.

Cahaly believes one big reason for the difference is that Warnock is constantly in the media for his previous sermons, many of which have been painted as out of the mainstream for Georgia voters.

“They’re driving him crazy with bits and pieces of his sermons,” Cahaly said. “You watch the 11 o’clock news, and you’ve almost got your fill of television evangelism.”

Some of Warnock’s past sermons have continued to follow him through the campaign, including one 2011 sermon in which he paraphrased Matthew 6:24 to claim that “nobody can serve God and the military.”

“America, nobody can serve God and the military,” Warnock said at the time. “You can’t serve God and money. You cannot serve God and mammon at the same time. America, choose ye this day who you will serve. Choose ye this day.”

Despite one of the races being closer, both Republican incumbents enjoy a lead in the most recent Trafalgar poll. Cahaly has what is perhaps a surprising explanation for that, saying that the two GOP candidates did themselves a big favor by coming out in support of Atlanta’s Major League Baseball...

the two GOP candidates did themselves a big favor by coming out in support of Atlanta’s Major League Baseball club’s nickname.

An interesting insight.

Did the pollster account for all the “new residents” Georgia has gained? They will steal this one like they did last Nov.

Perdue almost outright won on November 3 and only the Libertarian Party prevented that, and I can’t see those voters voting Ossoff.

I feel this will be a repeat of 2008, where Saxby Chambliss barely edged out Jim Martin on Election Night (but didn’t get 50% because of the Libertarian too), but then clobbered Martin by fifteen points in the subsequent runoff. Dems aren’t going to show up in general election numbers without Trump on the ballot. I feel like both Republicans will win rather comfortably when it’s all said and done in January.

Same voting machines, software, criminal pollsters and corrupt Georgia GOP - nobody believes this election is valid. Nobody is convinced their vote is secure.

I agree the Braves are the most popular sports team by far in Georgia and if those two are out and gave any inkling they would support changing the name that may just be the stealth issue

Interesting how the media has paired up the races as Ossoff against Purdue and Loeffler against Warnock. In reality it could be Purdue against Warnock and Loeffler against Ossoff. Or simply team GOP vs Team Dem. People are voting for 2 Senators but the mainstream pairings are interesting. The Dem MSM would pair them like they are pairing them without some likely psychological advantage. Rich white girl against a abortion supporting black man down for the struggle.Hmmmm!

60% is not enough to cover the Rat cheat spread.

If that turns out to be the determining factor in either race it's alarming in a way. IOW that will be the best reason some voters can think of to support them over a radical corrupt party. Those voters obviously are not lefties themselves, yet if it weren't for that issue they would vote for the Dem maybe.

When there is the elevated talk and a constant drumbeat about election fraud as we have and continue to see daily the ability and chances of it happening are greatly reduced.

Sure thing, buddy now go away and make up some more lies to keep this a “horse race.” The same people will be voting for both candidates on both sides. There are no honest pollsters - we know that - so saying outright that Loeffler wins but Perdue doesn’t is sophistry. People aren’t voting on the issues they are voting to gain control of the Senate. Only in Democrat/media Fantasyland will there be ticket splitting. There are no public polls released on the third run off because that is the one that will tell a truther and clearer story.

For what is worth, the pollster was the most accurate one in the general election, predicting that Trump would win by a narrow margin in battleground states. Due to vote fraud, the reverse happened. Biden was ahead by a slim margin.

He was attacked by all pollsters, but he was proven right in the end.

Normally that would be true as GA is a pretty red state but the fraud is so bad and nothing is being done about it. I expect a repeat of Nov. 3

Only drunks would split their ticket in this runoff.

Loeffler’s seat is up again in 2 years, so it continues to be a continual fight. Perdue’s seat is more important in that light. But let’s hope we get both of them.

That comment assumes, incorrectly, that the election in Georgia wasn't tainted by fraud. It was.

There wouldn't be a run-off for Perdue if there had been valid signature verification on mail-in ballots. Or if phony ballots, run multiple times, hadn't been pulled out underneath a desk in Atlanta.

It likely all comes down to whether McConnell and the GOP portion of the oligarchy cut a deal with Democrats to save one or both of the Senate seats in exchange for screwing over Trump.

. . . and John James would have won the Senate race in Michigan at the same time.
