But they have the horsepower to tow ships that size. The windlass is designed to handle an anchor and chain weighing a few hundred tons. It can't tow 200,000 tons off the beach.
Biden’s fault
Kind of like those guys in Canada who use one or more wreckers to right cabs and trailers in treacherous conditions and pull them out of ravines etc. The name of the TV show escapes me.

Is the price of bananas soon to skyrocket, I wonder?
How the HECK can they come from so far away and only cost me 39-cents per pound as it is?

‘Cause...
Work all night and a drink a rum
(Daylight come and me wan’ go home)
Stack banana ‘til the morning come
(Daylight come and me wan’ go home)
They would only need to remove enough containers so it won’t be too top heavy, then they could possibly offload some ballast & get it floating without rolling over.
You will need an F-250 with a 6 liter diesel, a 750 ton tow strap, and probably at least 10 cans of WD40.
Quick, get those wind turbines cranking and the solar cells on line!
It’s our only hope!
The primary places of pirate activity on the world today are basically either side of the Suez. Diverting ships away from it actually makes them LESS vulnerable.
By “several” do you mean A THOUSAND?! It’s as big as the Empire State Building, you ain’t moving that with a couple farm tractors.
You forgot the most important need: A couple cases of beer!
“Hey, put a big flat tube around it about 10’ below water, air it up, start engines and she’s off!!!
Your welcome! Blonde Engineer from Texas”
Redneck NE Tx engineer here that should work. Stuck in sand not rock. No need for winches etc. Maybe tugs/fireboats blasting water at sand at stern and bow, just sand again. Somewhat slow process to fill tube with air but that gives time to monitor hull integrity. Air compressors will be available on tugs, other craft & onshore. Follow with a dredge or 2 to pump sand back out of channel after freeing ship. Now just need the world’s largest innertube with lots of nipples for air intake and lots of air hose lines. Somebody call Harborfreight. You can thank me later.
LOL
Don’t they measure the ships before they let them through the canal?
Ships this big go through the canal all the time (like a thousand times a day all the time). They just don’t usually run out of gas in a windstorm.
I think they’re going to need a bigger plunger.
I wonder if anyone has asked Congressman Hank Johnson about tipping the ship to free it? He’s an expert on large objects in bodies of water you know.
You are talking 220000 tons buried 40-50 feet on one end and 20-30 feet on the other.
So far, 8 6-8000 HP tugs can’t budge it, and some CAT earth movers can?
Yea, of course they do. They wouldn’t let them in if they didn’t fit the parameters. Ships and weather are an ancient problem. Doesn’t matter where you are or what your driving. When you’re at the mercy of two fluids that can go crazy, $#!t happens.
