I took my first Pfizer shot today (Monday, April 5th) - no noticeable symptoms (yet). I do push ups and arm circles shortly after a shot, to increase circulation, in an attempt to reduce local soreness.
Oh wow!!! I didn’t realize you hadn’t had yours yet!
Just eligible, took the first available.
Cool well keep us posted!
Smart choice based on solid science. How long before the flat earther antivax loons show up to sea gull all over you. I’m fully vaccinated and 96% immune as my second dose of Pfizer was weeks ago. My CDC card with QR code is laminated and ready to travel internationally again. I’m hoping the CDC hurries up with yellow cards that include covid19 on them those are WHO recognized immunity cards valid worldwide my current yellow card has my yellow fever, dengue fever and typhus proof I do contract science work in Africa on the regular.
Got mine at VA ten days ago, with the wifes copd and on oxygen full time I want to reduce the chance of bringing it home to her. She went to Dr today and she’s set for a jab tomorrow of the J&J vax. She was eligible way back for the other 2, but was reluctant to get the rna shot so waited for the J&J. Thankfully not too long a wait. I think a lot more folks will go for J&J because it’s a single shot and doesn’t use the rna construct of pfizer/moderna shots.
Months back, I estimated that they would probably get around to me in April.
That means that the priority people (elderly, vulnerable, essential) have mostly moved through the line for first shots (and supply is increasing).
For people in dire straits that go to the ER...they are subject to whatever the doctors in that moment see fit... I do wish America had more widespread discussion regarding use of therapeutics and treatments of course! And more funding for new drugs as well. Vaccine should only be one part of the approach.
Why aren’t people screened for Covid or prior Covid - as a requirement before getting vaccine you think?
I was going to get Pfizer round 1 tomorrow, but late last week a batch of J&J appts opened up for Thursday, so I am getting that instead.
The UK spreads out the time between first and second shot (I think up to 12 weeks), to get more folks the first shot sooner (I don't know about the UAE and Chile). It is a wise policy for the UK, as the first dose does the Lion's share of the job. Their cases dropped 44% over the last week. Israel down over 63% last week.
We are probably approaching the final nosedive of COVID here soon as well.
If J&J had delivered their anticipated 20 million single shot doses last month, and 30 million more in April, then April would have been a much surer bet for collapse of the disease spread. But soon.
How different will the J and J formulations be from Netherlands factory to Baltimore.
Baltimore just sounds...eh...
“Why aren’t people screened for Covid or prior Covid - as a requirement before getting vaccine you think?”
I was asked about current symptoms before my shot.
I guess they don’t/didn’t have good study data on prior COVID effectiveness in preventing future disease, but policy was issued that everyone should be vaccinated, prior COVID or not. That way, they can be more certain about controlling the disease, from the Public Health perspective.
There was some discussion that perhaps those who had already had COVID might only need one booster vaccination, but now that flood of supply is on the horizon, there is less interest in finding ways to economize. Over a billion doses have already been contracted for (although the 400 million AZ doses are looking shaky)
“How different will the J and J formulations be from Netherlands factory to Baltimore.”
They should be precisely the same - pharmaceutical standards.

Have you seen this?
“The nebulizer providers warned by the FTC on 13 May about making false COVID-19 claims online are StuphCorp, of Las Vegas, and Gordon Medical, of San Rafael, CA. StuphCorp’s claims included, “Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is known for its bactericidal, virucidal, sporicidal, and fungicidal properties. ... I’d recommend nebulizing hydrogen peroxide during this pandemic.””
“Gordon Medical’s website featured claims such as, “Our doctors have been impressed with the potential for nebulized hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to protect against, and possibly treat the Covid-19 infection. This is a treatment that you can do at home if you have a nebulizer.”
“The FTC said the letters are its fifth set of warnings it announced in ongoing efforts to protect consumers from COVID-19 health care product scams. The letters advise the businesses and individuals to immediately stop all claims that their products can treat or cure COVID-19, and to notify the commission within 48 hours about the specific actions they’ve taken to correct their violations. My sister was pretty sick and had a positive Covid test (for whatever that’s worth). She was told to “get out” of the ER and no treatment was offered- because they have NO effective treatment. It’s criminal that Fauci discredited HCQ because he knew the FDA had legal requirements to meet before they could grant an EUA for a vaccine. One of those is that there can not be an effective available alternative. As far as my sister goes, she has a heart condition and was getting worse 10 days in. I got her on high dose liposomal Vitamin C, D3 and zinc. Within 3 days she was recovered. Had I known about the nebulized hydrogen peroxide then she probably would not have been sick in the first place.
